Are you the next Gordon Ramsey or Delia Smith? Do you know your hoisin sauce from your Peking sauce? Would you like to be free from the regulations set at corporate chef jobs?
Well then scroll down to see our current private chef vacancies. You'll find positions both in England and abroad; some are located in London or in various country houses, some offer you a chance to experience different cultures, explore local cuisine and cook with regional plants or animals.
Some employers have strict dietary requirements; allergies/intolerances, doctor-recommended diets or ethical diets. These challenges can broaden your knowledge, creativity and skills. Sometimes a limitation allows you to explore new ingredients or preparation methods and gives you the chance to really perfect your culinary craft.
The best things about being a private chef include:
- Having the opportunity to really know what your diners like
- Being able to prepare food that you know they'll love or giving them a new twist on their favourite meal
- If your employer travels overseas a lot, they may wish to have a chef travel with them, especially if they do so via private boat or plane.

Living in France, the client experiences the best of the best and expects that of their chef. The new chef should be able to get along with the household staff and yacht crew and make instant changes when necessary. Predominantly land based, this job will be to follow the clients and their guests between the residences, with work intermittently on the yachts, which runs a crew of 7 on the smaller boat and 18 on the larger vessel. The chef needs not be work shy, as he/she has not only to feed the guests, but also the crew and household staff. It is a busy job, so it helps if the chef is fit and in good shape.
