This part time formal residence is owned by delightful long-term clients, who maintain a beautiful villa overlooking the Mediterranean and tucked away in a glorious setting up in the hills of the Cote D’Azur.

Mainly used throughout the Summer months with occasional visits during the year, you must be confident and able to manage and take care of ALL aspects of this Classical French property when the house is unoccupied and have top class service skills and ability to care for the family when they are in town.
Duties will include total management of the Estate and main residence, overseeing day to day running of the property to include household and estate inventories, stock control – management of external contractors and serving the needs of the families and their guests needs when in residence.

The housekeeper will have great attention to detail, be used to caring for fine fabrics, Antiques, precious Artwork and all aspects of laundry and wardrobe management. Capable to supervise and train any temporary or junior staff as needed.
Garden and estate team employed, with visiting staff attending when the principals visit. Therefore, essential that you are team players and work with the team to meet the highest standards.

This is a highly recommended position, replacing a very long term couple, who have recently retired.

Longevity in previous similar position. Fluent English, good communication skills and a proactive, HANDS-ON person, willing to muck in as needed. Child and pet friendly. Large country house on an estate, home to a family of five which includes three children between 8 and 6yrs who are looked after by two rotational nannies and who are responsible for all nursery duties for the children.

The family have two cats and a dog – so you must be comfortable around animals.

Daily Essential Tasks

  • Thorough walkaround of property and ensure everything is working as should – TVS / Lighting / Music/ Climate / Security System / Maintenance items (water systems / technical spaces)

  • First responder to issues within the household such as repairs, breakages & maintenance.

  • Initiative and care required from candidate to ensure everything is working as it should throughout the property at all times.

  • Clean garden furniture and display cushions so they are set up ready for use.  

  • (If weather permits & to family movements) Uncover Swimming Pool and ensure terrace is clean & ready for use.

  • Collecting deliveries from the office and bringing to the private household ensuring they are passed onto the relevant staff.

  • Collecting garbage from household and disposing correctly – ensuring bins are emptied, when necessary, from the facilities team

  • Assisting the housekeeping team to ensure animal care is attended to correctly and when required.

  • Maintaining the primary household vehicles – ensuring they are clean, fuelled, and ready to be always used with maintenance checks always completed (coolants / water etc)

  • Responding to faults / calls via a rota with other live in staff for example fire alarms, power cuts etc.

  • Monitoring security systems and following security procedures on the property; overseeing contractors during visits, ensuring CCTV is working as it should etc.

 Additional Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Organise laundry for garden cushions & covers as and when required.

  • Complete repairs & touch ups as and when required liaising with the house manager around the family movements / housekeeping schedule to ensure everything is in always working order.

  • Swimming Pool Maintenance

  • Tennis Court Maintenance

  • Exterior Maintenance – ensuring the exterior of the property is well maintained and clean including driveways / windows etc.

  • Organise servicing for household machinery as required on a schedule – kitchen appliances (fridges /oven), laundry appliances (machines)

  • Organise primary household vehicle servicing – MOTs & annual servicing and repairs following direction from house manager & principals.

  • General tidy & upkeep of garage

  • (Spring / Summer) BBQ Maintenance & Pizza Maintenance – clean after use, check it is always ready for use when required and equipment is ready to use.

  • (Autumn / Winter) Fireplace Maintenance – clean after use, set up for use, restock logos / kindling /matches etc.

  • Working closely with the house manager and Estate manager to suggest improvements and future works on the household in line with a budget strategy.

You will be required to work 5 days a week following a rota working an 8-hour day between the hours of 8am –8pm, Monday to Sunday. Flexible to cover weekends when needed. We are seeking a live out Estate/Household Manager with knowledge in the running of a large VIP residence.

As the Principal will not be in residence for more than 3 to 4 months of the year, flexibility when the family is in residence is needed, though normal working hours are 9.30am-5.30pm Monday to Friday.

The estate comprises of a main London residence and 2 or 3 smaller London residences.

  • Setting up manuals, procedures, creating staff working descriptions and appraisals, keeping inventory and stock control records and suchlike. 

  • Excellent staff management, administration, front of house and service skills and the ability to work closely alongside some long-term employees. 

  • Ability to formulate annual operational financial budgets and keep control of actual costs against budget. Will be assisted by the family Office. 

  • All household technical care is supervised by personnel in the Family Office, based in Mayfair. Day to day maintenance will be within the remit of the Estate Manager. 

  • Flair, elegance, and an eye for detail required for this position. 

  • Must have the ability to work alongside and manage 8-10 members of staff, assisting, training, and guiding as required. Previous longevity (ideally 6 years with one employer) working as an Estate Manager is required for this position. 

  • Confident in interfacing with architects, engineers and surveyors in the delivery of high-end projects such as updates and large refurbishments 

  • Be able to identify any issues with MEP infrastructure, troubleshoot where necessary and should the need arise, liaise with relevant contractors to resolve matters in a prompt and timely manner. 

  • Diarise and manage throughput of maintenance contractors to ensure agreement contracts are adhered to and implemented at prescribed times.

  • Occasional formal and informal events may take place within the grounds of the residence, and you should be able to organise, plan and execute these to ensure the smooth running of the function.

Maintenance/Chauffeur/Security role will be responsible for maintaining technical aspects and exterior of the house, regular driving and being part of an on-site security team.

Maintenance Role:

  • Understanding all the highly technical and SMART equipment of the house and actively checking and ensuring all is working correctly.

  • Minor indoor repairs and general household maintenance

  • Co-ordinating the third-party companies for any service and repairs.

  • Running a Planned Preventative Maintenance schedule (PPM).

  • Ensure the exterior of the house, including terraces and windows are clean.

  • Seasonal upkeep of the swimming pool.

  • Outside furniture maintained to a high standard and cushions set up and clearing away

  • Look after the family’s dog and cats - possible future pets if/when required.

Chauffeur Role:

  • Drive whenever requested by the employer, including regularly to/from London and occasionally to Europe, including overnight stays.

  • Flexible work hours will be part of this role as there will be regular driving in evenings and weekends, with some intensive and other quieter periods.

  • Run household errands for the family.

  • Occasionally drive the children to school or activities.

  • Ensure all daily used cars are clean, roadworthy and with charge / fuel

  • Driving License essential

Security Role: 

  • Liaise with security companies who manage the technical aspects of security and have a thorough understanding of these systems.

  • Coordinating with the other team members living on-site to ensure there is a 24/7 security presence, including regular CCTV monitoring and patrols

  • Ensure all security systems are maintained and serviced at the relevant time
