HOUSEKEEPER- FAMILY COOK-HANDYPERSON-ASST GARDENER-SECURITY
Large country estate in rural Hampshire, set in parkland, woodland and arable land with 11 acres of mature gardens and 1.5 acre walled garden.
This is the permanent residence of a family of 5, ( in normal times 2 eldest adult children come and go) and one teenager who is at boarding school and 2 dogs.
The housekeeper will be required to work closely with the lady of the house, you should be able to take initiative, be well motivated but at the same time open to suggestions. A traditional role for a housekeeper with an eye for detail is essential. You will need previous experience in the care of silver and antiques, working alongside a cleaner, but at the same time be very hands on with laundry, washing and ironing, caring for fine fabrics, happy to handwash fine china and glass, know how to lay a table for a formal dinner party, arrange flowers and be capable to deal with tradespeople and suppliers, ordering provisions and taking responsibility for the running of the household especially when the principals are away.
Ideally you will be confident in the kitchen, mainly to prepare light lunches or snacks occasionally, but willing to freeze vegetables and fruits from the garden, assist with jam making and generally assist madam with batch food preparation, but not every day cooking.
Partner will work alongside the outdoor gardening team, assisting with grounds maintenance, woodland maintenance, and general DIY tasks. Ideally you will be able to use a chain saw, chopping wood for the fires, and dealing with heavier indoor duties as needed. Laying fires, cleaning windows, driving airport and school runs, caring for the cars, assisting indoors during shooting weekends and generally a helping hand. So essential that you enjoy wearing many different hats and working as part of a team.
There are 2 black Labradors who between you will need feeding and walking each day too.
In normal times the family travel frequently and during their absence you will need to take care of the property and security, so essential that you have good levels of communications and during these times be self-sufficient and self-directing.
SALARY BETWEEN £50-60,000 Gross per annum depending on experience. Private One bedroom flat is currently available in the main house, with an option for larger 2 bed accommodation Spring-2021.
2 flexible days off per week, average working day is 8am to 5pm. Eventually if there are house guests then additional hours will be required, time off in lieu will be given. Ideally both should drive a car is available if required. Well behaved dog welcome. (HU3631)
