The main responsibilities will include

  • To run the Building Services Department on an Estate with an historic principal residence and over 30 houses, cottages and outbuildings housing estate staff and third-party rentals
  • To supervise Assistant Building Services Manager and Maintenance Operative

You will be required to manage the maintenance contracts to ensure best cover for the family with minimal intrusion.   You will also be responsible for managing contractors when onsite.  

It is essential that you are hands-on with a strong technical background.  You should have the ability to diagnose and remedy minor faults. 

Additional duties will include

  • Manage the cleaning and servicing of the vehicle fleet including sales and purchases
  • Driving duties in the UK, so you must be a confident driver
  • Hands-on with regards to routine deep cleaning (windows, door runners, gutters, etc.)

The housekeeper will take care of the interior of the main house and a small guest house, cleaning, dealing with laundry and generally overseeing the day-to-day housekeeping duties. When the owners are in residence, some light cooking will be required ideally Mediterranean and Asian in style. Partner will spend approx. 70% in the gardens and 30% in the house, assisting with care of the gardens alongside the full-time head gardener and part time assistant. The owners are a mature couple – semi retired with no children. Most of the time only the principals will be in residence, but occasional guests will stay (on average once per month).

The main house is a Grade 2 listed -8-bedroom former rectory, with 2 guest cottages on site, an outdoor pool and tennis court in approx. 50 acres of paddocks, lawns, and formal gardens.

Whilst duties are separate the couple must work well together and have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in similar roles.

The housekeeper will be responsible for the day-to-day housekeeping of the main house with servicing of the cottages when required. You will need to supervise ad-hoc cleaners as needed.  Your duties will include cleaning, bed changing, laundry, ironing, shoe cleaning, arrange dry cleaning, take deliveries, messages and oversee internal tradesmen. You should enjoy displaying cut flowers, working with the gardener to ensure good use of available flowers.
