Grounds/Maintenance

Partner will be responsible for the day-to-day grounds’ maintenance of the property, which will include gardening, mowing, hedge trimming, greenhouse and vegetable garden. HANDS ON ASSISTANT ESTATE MANAGER & HOUSEKEEPER
Position in a rural village South of Stowmarket. The estate is newly refurbished and requires an experienced domestic couple to maintain and manage the house and grounds to a very high standard. The owners are a mature couple – semi retired with no children. Most of the time only the principals will be in residence, but occasional guests will stay (on average once per month).

The main house is a Grade 2 listed -8-bedroom former rectory, with 2 guest cottages on site, an outdoor pool and tennis court in approx. 50 acres of paddocks, lawns, and formal gardens.
Whilst duties are separate the couple must work well together and have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in similar roles.

The housekeeper will be responsible for the day-to-day housekeeping of the main house with servicing of the cottages when required. You will need to supervise ad-hoc cleaners as needed. Your duties will include cleaning, bed changing, laundry, ironing, shoe cleaning, arrange dry cleaning, take deliveries, messages and oversee internal tradesmen. You should enjoy displaying cut flowers, working with the gardener to ensure good use of available flowers. You will need to arrange pantry and household supplies (principally online). Cooking is not essential to the role, but some prep/assistance may be required occasionally. Caterers will be available for any entertaining, but you will need to oversee this and assist with dinner parties and other events.

The Assistant Estate Manager will be responsible for the overall security and day to day running of the estate. You should have a practical background with good hands-on maintenance skills and be capable of property maintenance and hard landscaping. Ideally with previous qualifications of a trade or with gardening knowledge and experience.
You will be required to clean and look after the cars and garden machinery, undertaking and arranging servicing, repairs etc. You will in liaison with the Estate Manager arrange external services i.e., window, pool, tennis court cleaning, maintain a stock of logs, lay fires, and fill log baskets, monitor oil and re-order, and manage domestic finances, place orders, and pay bills. You will manage and work with all staff on the estate (housekeeping and gardening) and any external contractors. Gardening experience will therefore be necessary. Experience of overseeing building projects would be an advantage. There will be some occasional driving duties for the principals to and from airport- station pickups, restaurants etc.
