This is a weekend and holiday home of a professional couple whose main residence and business is in Central London. They live an informal lifestyle, arrive on Friday afternoon and leave Sunday evening. The property will be used by family members and their guests, mainly as a relaxing weekend retreat, but occasionally during major holiday times i.e. Easter, Summer and Christmas, larger numbers of family including children may visit.

You will be responsible for the day to day running of the property and grounds, covering all aspects of housekeeping, cleaning, washing and ironing, food shopping, household provisioning, gardening, household maintenance and overseeing contractors etc.

When in residence the housekeeper will prepare lunch and dinner for the principals and any guests, good fresh healthy home cooking, lots of fish, vegetables, variety of salads mainly based on Mediterranean style dishes including vegetarian options. Although the principals like to entertain family and friends, all entertaining is informal and no more than 8-10 people. For any formal entertaining outside caterers will be available.

Partner will be responsible for the day to day management of this small estate, which will include the gardens and greenhouse, vegetable garden, lawns, flower beds, pond and small area of woodland. Other duties will include general property maintenance, hence good DIY skills are required. There is an outdoor swimming pool and tennis court to care for, cars to fuel and clean and occasional driving to the local station and airport occasionally. A major refurbishment programme is planned and the couple will be required to oversee contractors, manage the works and oversee security. Good communication skills are essential. Both of the couple should drive, a car is provided for work related use.

RESIDENTIAL HOUSEKEEPER

Experienced housekeeper required for large Country house in Rural Ireland. The Main House consists seven bedrooms, several entertaining rooms and recreational facilities spread throughout four floors. Like many large family homes, it can be a very busy place especially during the summer months as well as during the winter holiday season.  The household is fully staffed with a team of 8 staff comprising of :  Butler, 2 Private Chefs, two Housekeepers (one live-in and one live-out), a Laundry technician and two Maintenance personnel. The Housekeeping Team reports directly to the House Butler.

 

The housekeepers are expected to perform their duties to the highest standard with great attention to detail. Housekeepers are also expected to adhere to the health and safety standards and regulations.

The general cleanliness of the Main House falls under the responsibility of the housekeepers. The Family Room is the place where the Family spends most of their time as well as taking their meals and hosting smaller dinner parties and other social meetings. Therefore the morning routine first focuses on cleaning and servicing the Family Room from the night before. The daily housekeeper starts at 0900 hrs. After the Family and Guests vacate their bedrooms, those rooms are serviced.

Hours of work: 

The live-in housekeeper is required to work from 0700 hrs to 1500 hrs with 2 breaks during the day. The food, when on duty is provided by the House Chefs and consumed in the Staff dining room.

 

Work schedule: 

The live-in housekeeper is expected to work from Monday till the Wednesday of the following week and then to take 4 days off (Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday) and return to work the Monday after for  another 10 days shift. 

The live-in housekeeper is expected to work over the Christmas holiday unless if Christmas falls to those above mentioned days off.

The position will require someone very knowledgeable in plant material, trees and shrubs and somebody who is able to work closely with the owner, who is herself extremely knowledgeable, loves her gardens and has special ideas and projects in mind for this newly acquired property.  Renovation work will commence on the house in April and is expected to be ongoing for 18 months.

It would be especially helpful if the successful applicant was knowledgeable in the Dutch/German landscape tradition of Piet Ouldolf, though not essential.

Candidates should be superb plantsmen, experienced in all aspects of the gardening year and able to communicate well.  Must be able to coordinate and develop any further areas of the property as required, working alongside the employer, landscaper and outside contractors. Position in a rural village South of Stowmarket. The estate is newly refurbished and requires an experienced domestic couple to maintain and manage the house and grounds to a very high standard. The owners are a mature couple – semi retired with no children. Most of the time only the principals will be in residence, but occasional guests will stay (on average once per month).

The main house is a Grade 2 listed -8-bedroom former rectory, with 2 guest cottages on site, an outdoor pool and tennis court in approx. 50 acres of paddocks, lawns, and formal gardens.

Whilst duties are separate the couple must work well together and have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in similar roles.

The housekeeper will be responsible for the day to day housekeeping of the main house with servicing of the cottages when required. You will need to supervise ad-hoc cleaners as needed.  Your duties will include cleaning, bed changing, laundry, ironing, shoe cleaning, arrange dry cleaning, take deliveries, messages and oversee internal tradesmen. You should enjoy displaying cut flowers, working with the gardener to ensure good use of available flowers. You will need to arrange pantry and household supplies (principally online).  Cooking is not essential to the role, but some may be required occasionally.  Caterers will be available for any entertaining, but you will need to oversee this and assist with dinner parties and other events.

The house manager will be responsible for the overall security and day to day running of the estate. You should have a practical background with good hands on maintenance skills and be capable of property maintenance and hard landscaping.  You will be required to clean and look after the cars and garden machinery, undertaking and arranging servicing, repairs etc. You will arrange external services i.e. window, pool, tennis court cleaning, maintain a stock of logs, lay fires and fill log baskets, monitor oil and re-order, and manage domestic finances, place orders, and pay bills. You will manage and work with all staff on the estate (housekeeping and gardening) and any external contractors.  Gardening experience will therefore be necessary. Experience of overseeing building projects would be an advantage.  There will be some occasional driving duties for the principals to and from airport- station pickups, restaurants etc.

Seasoned Domestic Couple needed for E. Hampton residence. The main house has approximately 10,000 sq. ft. There is also a guest house on the property. This is an amazing opportunity to work for a kind, considerate senior couple who appreciate hard work. Due to COVID, the principals are not going out and limiting anyone coming into their home.  

The principals’ present staff have been with the family for close to twenty years. Having tenure in your previous roles is appreciated and a definite advantage. Our clients are private (not visibly social). During the summer months, they use their E. Hampton residence to relax and enjoy their two grandchildren who visit for two weeks in the summer. During this time, the principals commute between their Park Avenue apartment during the week and their E. Hampton retreat at the weekends. In the fall, they normally return to their Florida residence.

The summertime is busy when the principals are in-residence. Six days a week coverage will be expected. During the winter months, our clients travel south to their home in Florida. At that time, you can re-coop any overtime.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Preparing breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the summer months
  • Clean the inside and exterior of the house
  • Set-up of seasonal decor, winterizing the property where appropriate, preparing for hurricanes and procedures
