Chalet Intendant  - ALPS
We are seeking an experienced Intendant to take care of the overall running and care of a large, high profile clients’ Chalet.  The current employee has been in post for 20 years and will retire after a handing over period with the new Intendant.  Normally the family use the chalet for 2-3 months during the ski season and occasional short visits.  At this time, a full additional staff are brought in to work alongside the Intendant.  

Profile
You are a person who is able to operate in and around wealth, with a strict sense of privacy towards the principal and their environment. You manage a private alpine residence and therefore are in charge of its upkeeping, safety and maintenance throughout the seasons. You are a hands-on person who is not afraid of manual work. You are required to manage a strict budget and reduce costs when asked. 
You are a person that goes above and beyond providing for the principals. 
You are fluent in English and in French or German. 
The position reports to the residence manager and to the principal’s overall properties manager. 
Conditions
The position requires a good physical condition as there is a substantial amount of physical work.No accommodation is provided, but lodging will be taken care of when presence is required occasionally in other locations. No car is provided but a driving license is a must. Salary circa 95,000 Euros per annum plus bonus.  An EU passport holder is essential.

List of tasks and responsibilities
Chalet interior

  • You are responsible for the general cleanliness of the chalet at all times throughout the year.
  • Liaising and negotiating with contractors for interior works and maintenance needs. 
  • When the chalet is in use by the principal: support the house team with service, cleaning, provisioning, delivery and pick up of the dry cleaning, orders.
  • In charge of meal service for the principals on some occasions experience, ideal but not essential.
  • Receiving parcels/mail, logging it in the logbook and dispatching it
  • Manage functioning of the pool, its cleanliness, and the water quality by sending samples to the laboratory.
  • Stocking and managing items in fridges and dry goods storage as well as liquor and wine inventory in liaison with the Residence manager.
  • Preparation and participation with the logistics of events
  • Manage inventories
  • Being available, when requested by the head of security to drive/pick up family members when requested
  • Obtain knowledge of the local area, essential providers in the region and important places of interest (hotels, restaurants, shops…). Create a network of people in these fields.
  • Ensure the sport equipment is up to standard.  (Skis, snowshoes, ice hockey equipment, tennis balls, tennis rackets, bicycles, bikes)
  •  Supervise general maintenance and cleanliness of office building in the village• A couple of weeks per year will be dedicated to supporting the house staff in other residences 

Chalet exterior 
• Seasonal related upkeep of the exterior grounds.

o Snow clearance in the winter months 

o Lawn, trees, lake upkeep in the summer 

• Yearly drainage of the lake followed by a thorough clean.

• Clearing/cleaning & setting up all terraces when weather allows. 

o Making sure the heating system is operational. 

• Clear snow from all parking areas on the property 

• Make sure all pathways and car access are free of snow and safe  

• Ensure all vehicles are clean, tanks filled, and the yearly technical maintenances done

• Handy skills put to practice (fixing, building, repairing…)

• Oversee seasonal refurbishment, building or maintenance projects

The residence is approx.40 mins from Central Dublin in a beautiful location and there are other homes in South of France, two homes in the USA, (New York and L.A.) so essential that you have freedom to travel occasionally.

You will need to be able to take on the total running of the main residence, (with occasional travel to the overseas homes.)  The main residence is however the priority and you will be managing all aspects of the household staff, dealing with rotas, inventory and stock control, undertaking household accounts and ensuring that the  travelling Head Housekeeper is well prepared to go ahead of the family, to ensure that each home is prepared in readiness for their arrival.  Each property is staffed; however, you will need to have a broad knowledge in all aspects of running HNW homes and undertake a range of personal assistant duties.

Responsible for household and project management in multiple locations across continents

  • Recruiting, training and supervision of the household employees, creating operation manuals
  • Research and negotiation with vendors, contractors, maintenance providers.
  • Creating data base systems for each property and extensive, detailed photographic inventories.
  • Diary, travel management and event planning.

  • Liaise with security staff/ drivers and other relevant staff members when necessary, for example, children travel arrangements, to ensure all their needs are being met.
  • When traveling with the children, you are required to travel with them and take care of their clothing, entertainment and organising their timetables etc. This will include some laundress duties and wardrobe organisation.
  • When traveling, to prepare in advance cultural and entertainment activities in the relevant cities and destinations. To be resourceful and imaginative.

You must be able to work from home in this position.   This is a lovely role that will suit a candidate who has a flexible approach and a “can-do” attitude.  You will be required to act as the first point of contact; dealing with incoming emails, phone calls and post, you will manage extensive diaries; scheduling meetings and appointments, you will also be responsible for making international travel arrangements including organising visa’s, transport and accommodation.  Additional duties will include facilitating events and conferences, compiling reports, managing expenses, maintaining procedures, and effectively liaising with staff, suppliers, and clients.  It is essential that you have previous experience in a similar Personal Assistant role.  Excellent computer skills along with strong organizational skills required.  5 day working week with flexibility.  Negotiable salary.  ASAP start. A private experienced yacht chef is required from 1st July through 30th September to provide daily meals for the owner, guests, and staff.   This is a seasonal role for a highly recommended long-term Hutchinsons client.   You should have a creative repertoire of superbly presented healthy food with a focus on Mediterranean, Asian, and Japanese cuisine.  Ideally you should have top end experience on a motor yacht and or within a private residence with previous long-term positions and impeccable references.  This is a great opportunity for a top-notch, trustworthy and highly qualified personal chef, who is highly skilled and one who can produce delicious, healthy light cuisine.   Shared cabin, negotiable salary based on experience.  (HU3686)
