  • You will attend to the needs of the family at their different residences (in Switzerland and abroad) and be present several months a year on board their Vessel

RESIDENTIAL HOUSEKEEPER

Experienced housekeeper required for large Country house in Rural Ireland. The Main House consists seven bedrooms, several entertaining rooms and recreational facilities spread throughout four floors. Like many large family homes, it can be a very busy place especially during the summer months as well as during the winter holiday season. The Principal has three adult children, and nine grandchildren aged between 4-12 years of age. Therefore a child and dog friendly housekeeper is essential.

 The household is fully staffed with a team of 8 staff comprising of :  Butler, 2 Private Chefs, two Housekeepers (one live-in and one live-out), a Laundry technician and two Maintenance personnel. The Housekeeping Team reports directly to the House Butler.

 

The housekeepers are expected to perform their duties to the highest standard with great attention to detail. Housekeepers are also expected to adhere to the health and safety standards and regulations.

The general cleanliness of the Main House falls under the responsibility of the housekeepers. The Family Room is the place where the Family spends most of their time as well as taking their meals and hosting smaller dinner parties and other social meetings. Therefore the morning routine first focuses on cleaning and servicing the Family Room from the night before. The daily housekeeper starts at 0900 hrs. After the Family and Guests vacate their bedrooms, those rooms are serviced.

Hours of work: 

The live-in housekeeper is required to work from 0700 hrs to 1500 hrs with 2 breaks during the day. The food, when on duty is provided by the House Chefs and consumed in the Staff dining room.

 

Work schedule: 

The live-in housekeeper is expected to work from Monday till the Wednesday of the following week and then to take 4 days off (Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday) and return to work the Monday after for  another 10 days shift. 

The live-in housekeeper is expected to work over the Christmas holiday unless if Christmas falls to those above mentioned days off.

Seeking an experienced House Manager / Estate Manager who will oversee the day-to day operations of a Toronto residence and who will have the general oversight of a second vacation home in France.

In France the candidate will work with the France House Manager to ensure high-level management of the property including any major construction and maintenance projects, and the upkeep of household manuals.  In Toronto, the candidate will be much more hands on, responsible for all the details of the home.  Both homes have appropriate additional housekeeping staff.

For both residences, the successful candidate will be one that thrives in an environment with defined processes and standards. They enjoy maintaining and developing the manuals and checklists that support a well-organized home. The position requires a high energy individual with an excellent work ethic and a sense of pride in work well done. And importantly, the candidate understands that all assigned tasks are taken on with full ownership, and seen through to completion, in a timely manner.

This role requires that the candidate be comfortable working in close collaboration with a very hands-on homeowner who cares greatly for their home. Daily “touch base” meetings, weekly reports, and an open and constant dialogue define the management style of the principal

 Primary Responsibilities:

 

  • Work with all staff and services to maintain household and property standards

  • Manage Evening detailing of the property ensuring that all surface are kept clear, any maintenance issues are identified quickly and that the home is put at the ready for the principal’s evening

 

  • Manage all maintenance systems

 

  • Manage an extensive art collection and wine collection in conjunction with the EPA

 

  • Organization of major storage areas in the home and offsite.
  • Event planning, execution and logistics; entertaining is hands on and to the highest standard

 

  • Installation of holiday décor

 

  • Vehicle maintenance and occasional driving
  • Able to be hands on with all housekeeping roles if required, including light cooking
  • Other duties as required

 

Skills and Requirements:

It would be especially helpful if the successful applicant was knowledgeable in the Dutch/German landscape tradition of Piet Ouldolf, though not essential.

Candidates should be superb plantsmen, experienced in all aspects of the gardening year and able to communicate well.  Must be able to coordinate and develop any further areas of the property as required, working alongside the employer, landscaper and outside contractors. A team player is required, with the ability to muck in and somebody who is willing to help this charming owner with running odd errands and to assist when and where needed.  A “Can Do” attitude is essential. Duties will include sole care of the gardens and the exterior of the residence.  You will be required also to maintain the annual garden manual, keeping photographic updates as well as a written record. 

Candidates must be able to grow and maintain a large variety of high-quality plants, maintain electrics/garden lighting and automatic watering, manage the weekly garden maintenance team, deal with outside contractors and visitors to the estate and care for the swimming pool. One residence is approx.40 mins from Central Dublin.  There is a good deal of travel between other homes in South of France and the 2 homes in the USA, so essential that you have freedom to travel.

You will need to be able to take on the total running of this and the overseas homes, managing all aspects of the household staff, dealing with rotas, inventory and stock control, undertaking household accounts and travelling ahead of the family, to ensure that each home is prepared in readiness for their arrival.  Each property is staffed; however, you will need to have a broad knowledge in all aspects of running HNW homes, be hands on in housekeeping when needed and be willing to pack and unpack and undertake wardrobe care, executing a wide range of personal assistant duties and managing several large properties internationally.

Responsible for household and project management in multiple locations across continents

  • Recruiting, training and supervision of the household employees, creating operation manuals
  • Research and negotiation with vendors, contractors, maintenance providers.
  • Creating data base systems for each property and extensive, detailed photographic inventories.
  • Diary, travel management and event planning.
  • Sourcing and setting up of residences for high end rentals.

You will undertake local shopping for the households, occasional driving for the general day to day running of the home(s) is essential.  

Specific Responsibilities:  you must be well organised, self-sufficient and duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Ensuring the overall smooth running of a busy household on a daily basis, with responsibility for the training and supervision of domestic staff, including a full-time housekeeper, a cleaner and a part time laundress.
  • Ensuring food, groceries and medication levels in house are maintained, as per a detailed schedule/ Inventory supplies.
  • Running personal errands and shopping for the family, as requested.
  • Ordering household items, as required
  • Overseeing weekly flower orders.
  • Coordinating with external suppliers such as dry cleaning/ Linen ironing service, butcher and drinks.
  • Ensuring all aspects of the house are in order; arranging contractors to undertake household maintenance as necessary.
  • Feel comfortable dealing with specialist fabrics and surfaces
  • Coordinating travel arrangements and preparation for travel to other international properties.
  • Packing and unpacking for travelling, as requested.  
  • To be responsible for the family's wardrobe maintenance and organisation.
  • Compilation of records, maintenance and updating of household manual and Inventories.

 This is a relaxed household, but with high standards and you will be required to ensure the Owner and family have any equipment they require at all times, and that it is ready for use. Ensure all Guests visiting have all of their requirements met. Experienced domestic couple with at least 7 yrs. in a similar position, is required to have sole care and responsibility of this large property (1,500 m2) throughout the year. Primarily a holiday home, used by the principals and their family, guests and friends at periods throughout the year but mainly summer months. The property stands in one acre of gardens and a part time gardener is employed. This is a large property and physical fitness and energy is essential for the role.

Main duties between the couple are

  • Cleaning and maintenance of all rooms, bathrooms, and communal areas
  • Laundry and ironing
  • Serving
  • Light cooking if required
  • Provisioning – shopping management
  • Receive and serve guests
  • Contact service providers and suppliers
  • Accounts reporting and management
