European businessman living in London requires an energetic organized household manager to manage the London Flat and is capable of formal front of house duties. For this Flat, located in the center of Chelsea, you will be able to take on the total running of the residence. You will work mostly alone except for a housekeeper who comes a few hours per day on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. There will be some travel involved although the main aspect of the job is the daily running of the London residence in all its aspects. You will undertake local shopping for the household, occasional driving for the general day to day running of the home(s) is essential. You must be well organized, self-sufficient and duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Ensuring food, groceries, and medication levels in the house are maintained, as per a detailed schedule/ Inventory supplies.

You will need to have previous experience in taking care of the interior of a private household. This property is a combination of both formal and informal service, with great attention to detail to high standards at all times.

The Estate is fully staffed and the couple must have a flexible and positive attitude and enjoy working as part of a team. The residence is occupied half of the year mainly Spring through the Summer, the main house has 9 bedrooms and there are 3 guest cottages.

The head housekeeper will ideally have previous experience overseeing a small cleaning/housekeeping team.

Duties will include:

Long Term Hutchinson’s client is looking for a top-notch household manager, able to undertake informal table and beverage service and who has excellent front of house skills.  This is for a family with three grown up children. The residence is approx.40 mins from Central Dublin in a beautiful location and there are other homes in South of France, two homes in the USA, (New York and L.A.) so essential that you have freedom to travel occasionally.

You will need to be able to take on the total running of the main residence, (with occasional travel to the overseas homes.)  The main residence is however the priority and you will be managing all aspects of the household staff, dealing with rotas, inventory and stock control, undertaking household accounts and ensuring that the  travelling Head Housekeeper is well prepared to go ahead of the family, to ensure that each home is prepared in readiness for their arrival.  Each property is staffed; however, you will need to have a broad knowledge in all aspects of running HNW homes and undertake a range of personal assistant duties.

Responsible for household and project management in multiple locations across continents

  • Recruiting, training and supervision of the household employees, creating operation manuals
  • Research and negotiation with vendors, contractors, maintenance providers.
  • Creating data base systems for each property and extensive, detailed photographic inventories.
  • Diary, travel management and event planning.
  • Sourcing and setting up of residences for high end rentals.

You will undertake local shopping for the households, occasional driving for the general day to day running of the home(s) is essential.  

Specific Responsibilities:  you must be well organised, self-sufficient and duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Ensuring the overall smooth running of a busy household on a daily basis, with responsibility for the training and supervision of domestic staff, including full-time Head Housekeeper, Housekeeper, Daily Cleaner and a part time Laundress.

This is a wonderful role for a traditional butler to join a team of four butlers. You will need to have first class table, F&B service and front of house skills and know how to take care of the cellar, fine glassware and china and objects d’art.

The vacancy includes travel from early December through to April, where you will be employed in the owners’ other home in the Caribbean. There will also be additional travel to Europe, so freedom to travel is essential.

Full staff, all very long-term are employed in both households by these charming clients.

Candidates are required to be completely computer-literate, have a clean current driving license and a long-term work record in a similar role with excellent references is essential.

Salary negotiable based on experience. Accommodation provided (with another butler) 2/3-bedroom house on the estate, where your family are welcome to visit. Team rota of working covering 2 shifts 06.30am to 3.00pm and 3.00pm to close of house. One full day off per week.
