The principals (3 adults no small children) share their time between London and their country home. A live-in housekeeper who has been with the family for many years is also employed.
An experienced housekeeper, with great attention to detail is required to work 5 days per week, ideally covering weekends. The daily working hours will be 11-8pm. Duties will include cleaning, laundry, and fresh healthy cooking. You should be a confident cook of fresh healthy meals, the family enjoy a healthy lifestyle and eat light dishes, mainly based on Mediterranean style of eating to include lots of fresh vegetables, salads, fish, and meat.
Dog friendly, nonsmoker and longevity in previous positions are required.

A good team spirit is required, and you must be willing to be flexible about your duties as the family are only in residence at the weekend, but not every weekend.

Ideally you will feel comfortable to cook for a small informal dinner party (a chef is available for anything large or formal) You will care for the kitchen, have responsibility for provisioning and household shopping.
As you will not be required to cook every day, you will need to be willing to undertake housekeeping duties, assisting the head housekeeper and cleaner with daily housekeeping tasks around the home.
Due to the location you do need to drive and have your own car. Previous private house experience essential, as well as longevity in previous roles.

BARNET – HERTFORDSHIRE
RESIDENTIAL HOUSEKEEPER & FAMILY COOK for privately-owned Palladian Mansion, located just outside Barnet and set in 250 acres of parkland.  The house is used both as a private residence and let out for both filming and private corporate events. 

Duties to include a full range of hands on housekeeping tasks ensuring that all areas of the house are clean and free of dust on a daily basis.

  • Liaising with the House Manager/Film Steward to ensure the house is cleaned after any filming or event.
  • Cleaning/care of antique furniture and paintings. Advise House Manager of any items requiring specific attention or repair.
  • Making sure all bedrooms are kept clean and tidy and beds are made.
  • Ensuring all private and communal bathrooms/lavatories are kept clean and that high levels of hygiene are maintained.
  • Working with the House-person to ensure all refuse and recycling from the house is dealt with appropriately.
  • Making sure that all general medicines/First Aid kits are kept stocked and within their ‘use by’ dates.
  • Checking that all areas of the house are functioning correctly (light bulbs, bathrooms, lift etc) and reporting to the House Manager anything which needs rectifying.
  • Checking all cleaning supplies are kept stocked and advising the House Manager if anything needs to be purchased.
  • Care and basic maintenance of all cleaning and laundry equipment and areas. Report any issues to the House Manager.
  • Specific cleaning of gym area and equipment.
  • Cleaning of pool house and reporting any issues to the House Manager.
  • Care and cleaning of silverware/brass using the correct methods as requested.
  • Looking after guests and ensuring they have everything they need.
  • Assisting the House Manager/House-person with any luggage as required.
  • Laundering of clothes and bed linen.
  • Dealing with any contractors, labourers or visitors as required.
  • Working with other staff members to ensure that security within the house and grounds is maintained.
  • Work weekends and occasional Bank Holidays as required.
  • Family cooking as required on the chef’s days off.
  • Overseeing any temporary housekeeping staff.
  • Service at dinner parties as requested.
  • Service of meals/snacks/refreshments as requested.
  • Working with the House Manager to source any floral arrangements and ensure they are looked after and kept watered.
  • Wear appropriate clothing for various duties.
  • Participate in a weekly staff meeting. 

Hours of Work:

  • From 8am to approx 6pm, but there will occasionally be the need to work evenings when client is entertaining or at home for dinner and if the Cook if off duty.
  • Generally, the Housekeeper will be required to work 5 days a week, and most weekends. Wednesday and Thursday will be the two days off each week.

Accommodation:

  • A private flat is provided within the Main House.
  • All services are provided for with the exception of phone calls.

Large country estate in rural Hampshire, set in parkland, woodland, and arable land with 11 acres of mature gardens and 1.5 acre walled garden.
This is the permanent residence of a family of 5, (in normal times two eldest adult children come and go) and one teenager who is at boarding school and two dogs.
The housekeeper will be required to work closely with the lady of the house, you should be able to take initiative, be well motivated but at the same time open to suggestions. A traditional role for a housekeeper with an eye for detail is essential. You will need previous experience in the care of silver and antiques, working alongside a cleaner, but at the same time be very hands on with laundry, washing and ironing, caring for fine fabrics, happy to handwash fine china and glass, know how to lay a table for a formal dinner party, arrange flowers and be capable to deal with tradespeople and suppliers, ordering provisions and taking responsibility for the running of the household especially when the principals are away.
Ideally you will be confident in the kitchen, mainly to prepare light lunches or snacks occasionally, but willing to freeze vegetables and fruits from the garden, assist with jam making and generally assist madam with batch food preparation, but not every day cooking.
Partner will work alongside the outdoor gardening team, assisting with grounds maintenance, woodland maintenance, and general DIY tasks. Ideally you will be able to use a chain saw, chopping wood for the fires, and dealing with heavier indoor duties as needed. Laying fires, cleaning windows, driving airport and school runs, caring for the cars, assisting indoors during shooting weekends and generally a helping hand. So essential that you enjoy wearing many different hats and working as part of a team.
There are two black Labradors who between you will need feeding and walking each day too.
In normal times the family travel frequently and during their absence you will need to take care of the property and security, so essential that you have good levels of communications and during these times be self-sufficient and self-directing.
SALARY BETWEEN £50-60,000 Gross per annum depending on experience. Private One-bedroom flat is currently available in the main house, with an option for larger accommodation mid 2021.
2 flexible days off per week, average working day is 8am to 5pm. Eventually if there are house guests then additional hours will be required, time off in lieu will be given. Ideally both should drive and have your own car for personal use. Well behaved dog welcome. (HU3631)

Newly created position for an experienced housekeeper to run and manage this immaculate large country residence for a family of 5 which includes 3 school age children (10,9 and 5yrs). This is the primary family home of a young couple who will move in beginning December 2020. The property stands in a total of approx. 400 acres.
Main duties for the housekeeper will be an excellent standard of day to day housekeeping, which will include fresh healthy family cooking, organisation of contractors, deliveries etc. Shopping, household provisioning and assisting with childcare, which includes school runs,
assisting with bath and bedtime and babysitting. Mum is very hands on with the children too. The family have a pony and a dog, so animal lovers are essential and anyone with basic equine skills/knowledge much appreciated. You will be required to wear a simple uniform of polo shirt and chinos.
Ideally the average working day will start at 7am to 10am, preparing breakfast, assisting with the school run, clearing the kitchen and possibly leaving a light lunch for the principals, returning at 3pm to 8pm collecting one child from school, preparing family dinner, supervising children’s play and bath and bedtime.
