Long Term Hutchinson’s client with a very large, high-tech, and modern apartment in Highgate is looking for an experienced Cook /Housekeeper who is confident in the kitchen and willing to learn and follow new recipes.
A daily housekeeper of many years is also employed.
The client travels a great deal and is away for approximately 5 months each year.
Our client is gluten intolerant and dairy free, on a low-fat diet.
Duties will include, provisioning, taking total care of the kitchen and producing a very good level of simple, but well-cooked and nicely presented dishes, using fresh, seasonal ingredients. The client enjoys fish and fresh vegetables, with pulses, black rice, and quinoa salads etc.
You will provide one main evening meal, occasionally a very light lunch. The client likes to have home baked cakes available for visitors and so you will need to have experience baking with different types of flour – gluten free and low fat.
You will be required to care for the kitchen to an immaculate standard. Some light housekeeping duties including laundry is required. This position involves weekend work, however the lady travels for approx. 5 months of each year and then weekends off may be taken.
The daily working hours will be approx. 8 hrs per day when the client is in residence, unless a dinner party is planned and then time off in lieu to be taken.

Wonderful, long term, mature clients currently seek a part time additional member of staff to compliment a small team who care for this beautiful property in East Sussex. The position will be approx. 25 hrs per week but does require regular weekend working. In time it may be possible to offer more hours if required. The gentleman principal has short term memory loss and is unsteady on his feet but tries to be totally independent, this is not a carer position but does require a kind, caring, intelligent personality.
The main duties will be focused on the kitchen, cooking 3 evenings per week 5 pm to 9pm and at weekends 9am to 11am and 5pm to 9pm. The evening schedule will be preparing and cooking a 2 course evening meal for 2 people, laying and clearing the table, washing up, tidying the kitchen, ensuring that windows and doors are secure and any other additional tasks that the principals may need.
You should be a confident, keen “home” cook, capable of following recipes and preparing menus and cooking for small informal lunch or supper parties for between 2-6 people.
The principals, a mature couple, enjoy fresh, home cooked, traditional but healthy dishes, which will include souffles, fillet of beef, fish, salads and lots of fresh seasonal vegetables. You will prepare a simple light lunch and a 2-course dinner for the principals each evening, however they also have guests occasionally at weekends so important that you can be flexible to accommodate them.
At weekends (9am to 11am) you should be willing to attend to light basic housekeeping, emptying the dishwasher, laying the table for breakfast, laying a fire, tidying, opening curtains, making 2 beds etc.
There are 2 dogs so a willingness to assist with occasional dog walking on the estate a big plus.
On occasion, you may be asked to travel with the couple for a few days at a time, mainly in UK or possibly South of France, as an extra pair of hands and to keep a watching eye on the gentleman.
There is a long-term existing housekeeping team as well as an external staff who care for the gardens and woodlands.
Accommodation provided in a charming 3 bedroom fully furnished cottage which is approx. 5 mins walk from the main house.

Our long term clients with a beautiful property on the Wentworth Estate, require a new proactive, independent, self-sufficient Housekeeper as the previous employees return to their home country after 8 years of employment.
The main house is five bedrooms and bathrooms, with 3 reception rooms and a large indoor swimming pool and gym. A family of four with 2 adult sons who visit from time to time.
This is the family’s part time residence, they spend a lot of time travelling and during which time you will need to care for the family dog.
Duties are mainly that of cooking, but with some house management type duties and the day-to-day housekeeping duties, cleaning, laundry, flower arranging, organising deliveries and supplies, running errands and shopping for local provisions. Local additional housekeeping support is available when the principals are in residence if required.
Good family cooking will be required when they are in residence. The family enjoy varied international cuisine, including Asian style dishes. The cooking will range from breakfast, light lunch or dinner, between 2-4 people depending on who is in residence. For anything more formal or for larger numbers a chef is available. You will organise the shopping, plan menus and keep the kitchen and dining room in good order.
This position requires an experienced cook with an eye for detail and with flexibility to work longer hours when the family are in residence and taking extra time off during the family’s time away.
