An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly experienced, knowledgeable Head Gardener to work on a 25-acre property in the New Forest. Candidate will be assisted by an experienced Junior Gardener. Outside maintenance company is usually called in during the Season to lend a hand.
Candidate will be required to maintain this property to the very highest standard all year round. When the principals are in residence, you will be expected to be very flexible with your time.
Responsibilities will be the following, which is not an inclusive list. Candidate must be flexible.
The garden is in need of someone enthusiastic and passionate, someone who takes pride in their work and is able to work in an efficient, organised and focused manner. Candidate must have excellent attention to detail, to see issues before the principals do and the ability to take initiative and be proactive. There are always new projects happening on the estate, so candidate will be heavily involved in these. Creativity is essential.
There are 2 dogs on the property when the principals are in residence, the household is busy with entertaining and which is fully staffed. This is very much a ‘all-hands-on-deck’ environment whereas the team work closely together to ensure the smooth running of the property.
A pickup truck will be provided for work purposes. Extensive previous experience on a private estate is essential. Good communication and computer skills required. References will be checked.

Young couple with 2 small children recently moved into this small country estate during Summer 2021. The property is set in 38 acres in rural Suffolk, it is the family’s weekend and holiday home and over the next 2 years will undergo a refurbishment project, building work and major landscaping. There will also be several projects which will include reinstatement of a Victorian walled garden and creating a woodland space.
The housekeeper should have a detailed eye for cleaning, capable to deal with all family laundry including care of delicates and fine fabrics and ensure guest rooms are prepared within the main house and the guest cottages. You will be responsible for food shopping and household provisioning, arranging, and overseeing contractors for servicing and maintenance of household services.
Cooking for the family will be required on a regular basis, fresh healthy dishes, utilising fresh produce from the gardens as and when available. Batch cooking for the freezer, making jams and preserves etc. Ideally the housekeeper will be willing to assist in the gardens, weeding, watering, and harvesting fruits, vegetables, and herbs.
Partner will be required to care for and develop the gardens, reinstating the walled garden into a kitchen garden to grow vegetables, fruit and develop new flower beds & rose garden. The role requires a knowledgeable gardener but not necessarily a horticulturist. All equipment including ride on mower / tractor will be provided.
You will have good DIY skills capable to repair fences, deal with small carpentry/ painting repairs, care for the swimming pool, tennis court, pressure wash pathways and patio areas. Weekly cleaning of the cars and the coordination of external contractors are all part of this role.
Both of the couple will need to be animal friendly as long term the family will have Chickens, Alpacas, dogs and possibly ponies in the future.

An exciting position for a private family based in Somerset to manage the maintenance and upkeep of a modern 6-bedroom home (main residence) and office complex. This is a multi-faceted role that will require an all-rounder who can manage the property as well as the health / wellness facilities, manage the vehicle fleet, maintain and manage the upkeep of a smaller domestic property, equestrian facilities, an office and storage all based at the same site.
In addition to the main residence, you will be required to manage a small office complex including a warehouse and cottage that is leased. The office has a small team of staff and is located approximately 4 miles from the main residence. Duties will include the hands-on maintenance and contracts to ensure correct level of operations, weekly and monthly checks of the buildings and land, management of the cleaners, direct mail as required, weekly fire drills to meet compliance, etc.
The split would be 1-2 days at the offices and 3-4 days at the private residence.
You will be required to manage the maintenance contracts to ensure best cover for the family with minimal intrusion. You will also be responsible for managing contractors when onsite.
It is essential that you are hands-on with a strong technical background. You should have the ability to diagnose and remedy minor faults.
Additional duties will include
There is a small team of staff in place including a PA, housekeeper, handyman, labourer and gardener, so essential that you work well in a team environment. This is very much a hands-on role that requires you to have the ability to prioritise and multi-task. You should have experience working in a smart home and have a good understanding of electrics, heating, swimming pools, saunas, etc.

ESTATE MANAGER & SENIOR HOUSEKEEPER
Exceptional first-class couple, required for this position in a rural village South of Stowmarket. This immaculate estate is newly refurbished and requires a very experienced, senior domestic couple to maintain and manage the house and grounds to a very high standard. A second couple will be employed who will report to you, but it is essential that you are both hands on to ensure 7 day per week cover between the 2 couples.
The owners are a mature couple – semi retired with no children. Most of the time only the principals will be in residence, but occasional guests will stay (on average once per month).
The main house is a Grade 2 listed -8-bedroom former rectory, with 2 guest cottages on site, an outdoor pool and tennis court in approx. 50 acres of paddocks, lawns, and formal gardens.
Whilst duties are separate the couple must work well together and have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in similar roles.
The housekeeper will be responsible for the day-to-day housekeeping function of the main house with servicing of the cottages as and when required. You will be able to delegate duties to the assistant housekeeper when recruited, but your duties will also include cleaning, bed changing, laundry, ironing, shoe cleaning, arrange dry cleaning, take deliveries, messages and oversee internal tradesmen. You should enjoy displaying cut flowers, working with the gardener to ensure good use of available flowers. You will need to arrange pantry and household supplies (principally online). Cooking is not essential to the role, but some prep/assistance may be required occasionally. Caterers will be available for any entertaining, but you will need to oversee this and assist with dinner parties and other events.
The Estate Manager will be responsible for the overall security and day to day running of the estate. You should have a practical background with good hands-on maintenance skills and be capable of property maintenance, but at the same time have the management skills to lead the team of 6.
You will be required when needed to clean and look after the cars and garden machinery, undertaking and arranging servicing, repairs etc. You will arrange external services i.e., window, pool, tennis court cleaning, maintain a stock of logs, lay fires, and fill log baskets, monitor oil and re-order, and manage domestic finances, place orders, and pay bills. You will manage and work with all staff on the estate (housekeeping and gardening) and any external contractors. Experience of overseeing building projects would be an advantage. There will be some occasional driving duties for the principals to and from airport- station pickups, restaurants etc.
TOP SALARY IN THE REGION OF £80,000 PLUS PER ANNUM DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE.
