Large apartment over 2 floors in Mayfair, this is a part residence property of international clients who travel between multiple homes worldwide. The family of 5 includes 3 small children, each child has a nanny.
You will primarily be based in London but will be required occasionally to relieve the Head Housekeeper at the Surrey property on her days off if the principals are in residence there.
The household is mainly informal and relaxed, but with high end attention to detail always.

Both the Mayfair residence and Surrey residence are fully staffed which includes a house manager, butlers, chefs and security teams – you will lead a team of 8 housekeepers, all of whom work on a rota when the principals are in residence covering 7 days per week with 2 days off during those 7 days. When they are not in residence you will work Monday to Friday 8-4pm

Duties include but not limited to:

  1. Overall responsibility for maintaining the highest standard of cleanliness throughout.
  2. Overall responsibility for all housekeeping duties within the residence
  3. Daily management of the housekeeping and laundry team, training, and development, monitoring of interior tasks. Liaison with the house manager, ensuring good communication between shifts.
  4. Overseeing daily laundry routine, monitoring the movement of linens & clothing from laundry to correct locations, all laundry is to the required standard and on time. Arranging and organising specialist dry cleaning.
  5. Work closely with the principal, house/estate manager as and when required in planning events, parties and care of guests when required.
  6. Liaison with the principals’ other residences in preparation of principal’s arrival times and ensure continuity of service for each residence.
  7. Running errands, personal shopping, ordering housekeeping supplies and maintain stocks.
  8. Assist with management of petty cash – recording and receipts.
  9. Repeated cross checking of all rooms and bathrooms, presented for occupation.
  10. Reporting any damage to linens, household items, fixtures and fittings, or fabric of the building to the Estate manager
  11. Ensuring the housekeeping team is always represented in a professional capacity.

This is a flexible 5 day week position with rota working. An initial one year contract to cover maternity leave but with possibility of career progression within the household.

Flexible and pro active, with a “can do” attitude. Strong IT skills, technically minded with impeccable record keeping and good communication skills. The property is a well-established, totally refurbished manor house in a beautiful location. This is a part residence property of long-term international clients who visit especially during the summer months, the house is also used by extended family and friends throughout the year. The current couple will shorty retire home to New Zealand, after 12 very happy years, but will be available for a handover period. The Interior team of 4 include: cook/ assistant housekeeper, daily cleaner.

Maintenance – Facilities management role

  • Develop and understand a working knowledge of the mechanical and electrical installations, including heating, lighting, security, alarm systems, swimming pool and boiler room. Working through daily/weekly/monthly checklists.
  • Ensure that all facilities are tested thoroughly prior to any member of the family visiting. To include all tech equipment, audio-visual and telephones.
  • Liaison with all external companies and contractors servicing these installations, ensuring timely implementation.
  • Ensure all operating manuals, warranties, guarantees are kept scheduled and up to date.
  • Maintain comprehensive inventories of household contents, maintain diary, log all faults, snags, breakages, operational costs and repairs.
  • Supervision of the care and maintenance of the fabric of the building and where appropriate liaison with the Managing Agents and contractors. To include and ensure windows are cleaner, chimneys swept, bird guards are cleaned. All outdoor furniture is well maintained and the gym, swimming pool, tennis court are all clean, well maintained and all manufacturers maintenance procedures are carried out by the relevant contractors.
  • Occasional driving duties may be required.

Housekeeping Role

  • To ensure that the interior of the property is always immaculate.
  • Maintain and care for all contents of the residence, which includes special finishes,   Antiques, fine art and high end fine fabrics.
  • Assist with Laundry, wardrobe management and packing and unpacking during visits.
  • When the property is occupied, you will be responsible for provisioning, maintain bedrooms and bathrooms, turn down service, serving food and beverages and generally taking care of the principal and family or guests.
  • Preparation and serve breakfast and provide support and kitchen assistance to the cook for any large dinner parties or functions.
  • Maintain and record household budget and expenditure.
  • Oversee, supervise and work with local part time staff. Interact with any travelling staff as required.
  • Occasional driving duties may be required.

Excellent salary depending on experience, with 2 bedroom all found cottage. Based on a 5 day week, you must be prepared to work as required when the house is occupied. FLEXIBLE SENIOR/HEAD HOUSEKEEPER

An experienced, flexible, Senior Housekeeper is required for a large apartment over 3 floors. The housekeeper will be required to ensure the safe keeping and smooth running of a private family's residence in Central London as part of a team of 4. The role is working under the house manager and responsible for 3 housekeepers.

The family does not live in the UK full time and when they are visiting the Housekeeper should be flexible with working time. When not in residence 9-5pm Monday to Friday.

When they are in residence the house runs with a morning and evening shift shared between the housekeepers and temporary staff (if required). Morning shift 9-5, evening shift 1-9pm. Some weekend working on a rota will be required. You may be required to live in during these periods.

  • Collaborate with the house manager to ensure the property is kept in top condition, clean, safe and secure at all times. This will involve monitoring the junior housekeepers to keep the property in the highest level of order.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills when liaising with the house manager, staff, VIP guests and residents.
  • Responding to guest requests such as ordering taxis, running errands & organise drycleaning.
  • Cleaning of antiques, fine china, silverware and other delicate items in the household. This includes laundry, windows, floor treatments, dusting, polishing, vacuuming, care of upholstery, fabric, glass, leather, etc., and careful attention to the cleaning of antiques.
  • Service all areas regularly and cleaning schedule to include regular deep cleaning of bathrooms/kitchens and details such as preventing lime scale build up and running taps regularly to keep water pipes fresh etc.
  • Liaise with the house manager regarding any/all maintenance issue relating to the property and oversee contractors doing work in the property.
  • Familiarise yourself and become confident with fire systems/alarm systems and AV systems etc.

When the family are in residence:

  • Take leadership of the team of housekeepers and temporary staff to deliver excellent service.
  • Maintain all areas of the house including turn up & turn down as well as the clients personal staff areas.
  • Ensure Laundry is done to clients preferences (e.g. separate client/staff laundry and use preferred products etc.
  • Adhere to a dress code when the client is in residence and ensure that the staff you are responsible for are also adequately presentable.

We are seeking a very experienced Head Housekeeper, preferably with previous experience of managing a private household team of 4-6 cleaners/housekeepers and laundress. There are 3 properties, 2 main houses in Kensington of approx. 25,000 sq ft and a smaller property in North London, all owned by the principal who is only in residence 3-4 months over the year.

The head housekeeper will oversee the day-to-day operations of the residence and manage the team of cleaners/housekeepers to ensure all 3 residences are routinely maintained and well cared for, enabling uniformity over all 3 properties.

Duties will include but not limited to:

  • Train, develop and motivate existing team members, recruit and build a strong team.
  • Take overall responsibility for ensuring consistently high standards of cleanliness throughout the properties.
  • Supervise any external services, including contractors and suppliers in liaison with the Estate Manager.
  • Control and manage purchasing and supplies costs.
  • Administration tasks to include control of expenditure, budgets, and cost containment.
  • Organise Staff rota’s, safety audits and maintenance reports.
  • Purchasing of all household linens / towels, recording, monitoring and stock control.
  • Purchasing and monitoring of supplies to include appropriate cleaning supplies, toiletries and guest supplies.
  • Awareness of green issues.

As the Principal will not be in residence for more than 3 to 4 months of the year, flexibility when the
family is in residence is needed, though normal working hours are 9.30am-5.30pm Monday to
Friday. The principal always travels with a large travelling team of staff and has multiple homes throughout Europe and Internationally.

Occasional formal and informal events may take place within the grounds of the main residence, and you should be able to assist the Estate Manager to organise, plan and execute these to ensure the smooth running of the function.

All household technical care is dealt with by personnel in the Family Office, based in Mayfair.

Flair, elegance, and an eye for detail required for this lovely position which is being newly created.
Must have the ability to work alongside and manage 4-6 housekeepers, assisting, training, and guiding as required. Previous longevity working as head Housekeeper in a similar household is required for this position.
