Long term position for a very experienced housekeeper who enjoys working with a young UHNW family. This is a family of four which includes 2 school age boys-- a full time nanny is employed. Both parents work full time so look for a housekeeper who really understands how a formal home runs. The previous housekeeper worked for the family for over 15 years prior to retiring. There is also a part time laundress 2 days per week and a personal assistant.

This is a large five storey home, with many stairs, so essential that you are fit and energetic, with previous long-term references and experience. It is essential that you have previous experience working in a HNW household and have experience of special finishes, cleaning and caring for silver, antiques and fine fabrics.

The average working day will be 10am -6pm but with a degree of flexibility. You must enjoy working with children. Flexibility, a happy disposition, good team player and being part of the family for the long term is essential.

Most important is a happy, flexible, energetic person, who takes pride in their work, with a good level of English looking for a long-term position. Simple uniform will be required.

TOP SALARY for a top experienced housekeeper- 2 days off per week usually weekends but a willingness to work one Saturday per month would be appreciated. (HU2669B)

HEAD HOUSEKEEPER

This is a newly created position for a long-term client of Hutchinson’s, who are a family of 5 with 3 children of college age. Working very closely with and reporting to the House Manager.

It is a very busy household, so they are looking for an energetic, pro-active experienced hands-on Head Housekeeper to take over the day to day running of their family home in Dublin and to travel ahead to prepare their homes in the US and South of France, to ensure that each home is ready for their arrival. Each property has housekeeping assistance in situ, but the owners would like each residence to run in the same manner.

Attention to detail is very important and an ability to anticipate and troubleshoot essential.

Some of the areas to be covered though not exhaustive include

  • Ensuring the smooth running of a household and servicing of principals and guests, usually supervising others but also providing hands on housekeeping service. Working closely with the current housekeepers, monitoring standards, teaching and improving where required. Knowledgeable in the care of fine fabrics, glass, crystal etc.
  • Overseeing outside contractors, service providers and suppliers.
  • Ensuring food, groceries and medication levels in house are maintained and in date – as per a detailed inventory.
  • Maintenance of the property on a regular basis in conjunction with the estate manager • Maintaining security and communication systems and record keeping must have a good knowledge of smart houses
  • Regularly interacting with owners to maintain direct communication and compliance with their needs
  • Ensuring efficiency, harmony, and high morale throughout the household
  • Organising of social and family events
  • Caring for household’s guests and visitors
  • Serving of wines and other drinks
  • Serving of refreshments and meals
  • Caring for specialist items.

HANDS ON ESTATE MANAGER & HOUSEKEEPER

Position in a rural village South of Stowmarket. The estate is newly refurbished and requires an experienced domestic couple to maintain and manage the house and grounds to a very high standard. The owners are a mature couple – semi retired with no children. Most of the time only the principals will be in residence, but occasional guests will stay (on average once per month).

The main house is a Grade 2 listed -8-bedroom former rectory, with 2 guest cottages on site, an outdoor pool and tennis court in approx. 50 acres of paddocks, lawns, and formal gardens.

Whilst duties are separate the couple must work well together and have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in similar roles.

The housekeeper will be responsible for the day-to-day housekeeping of the main house with servicing of the cottages when required. You will need to supervise ad-hoc cleaners as needed.  Your duties will include cleaning, bed changing, laundry, ironing, shoe cleaning, arrange dry cleaning, take deliveries, messages and oversee internal tradesmen. You should enjoy displaying cut flowers, working with the gardener to ensure good use of available flowers. You will need to arrange pantry and household supplies (principally online).  Cooking is not essential to the role, but some prep/assistance may be required occasionally.  Caterers will be available for any entertaining, but you will need to oversee this and assist with dinner parties and other events.

The Estate Manager will be responsible for the overall security and day to day running of the estate. You should have a practical background with good hands-on maintenance skills and be capable of property maintenance and hard landscaping.  You will be required to clean and look after the cars and garden machinery, undertaking and arranging servicing, repairs etc. You will arrange external services i.e., window, pool, tennis court cleaning, maintain a stock of logs, lay fires, and fill log baskets, monitor oil and re-order, and manage domestic finances, place orders, and pay bills. You will manage and work with all staff on the estate (housekeeping and gardening) and any external contractors.  Gardening experience will therefore be necessary. Experience of overseeing building projects would be an advantage.  There will be some occasional driving duties for the principals to and from airport- station pickups, restaurants etc.

SALARY IN THE REGION OF £60-65,000 GROSS PER ANNUM DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE.

Energetic, proactive, well organised, self-sufficient, experienced Housekeeper to assist with the day-to-day management and running of a large family home in Dublin suburbs.

There are 2 dogs and grown-up children who visit regularly.

The average working day will be 10am to 6pm but with flexibility as needed.

Duties will include but not limited to:

  • Ensuring the overall housekeeping function and smooth running of a busy household on a daily basis with responsibility for supervision of 2 cleaners. You will organise rota’s – arrange holiday cover and keep records.
  • Running personal errands and shopping for the family, as requested.
  • Ordering household items, as required
  • Overseeing weekly flowers; daily maintenance of the flowers
  • Coordinating with external suppliers such as dry cleaning/ Linen ironing service.
  • Ensuring all aspects of the house are in order; cleaned to a high standard and all rooms presented and comfortable.

This is a hands-on position with detailed cleaning, washing, and ironing involved.

  • Feel comfortable dealing with specialist fabrics and surfaces
  • Packing and unpacking for travelling, as requested.
  • To be responsible for the family's wardrobe maintenance and organisation.

Meeting and greeting guests, serving beverages and assisting with all front of house duties will also be part of this role.

This is a very busy, relaxed, and friendly household, but with high standards. This position is suitable for a flexible and dedicated person who is well organised and proactive, it may be necessary on occasion for you to travel to other homes ahead of the family both in Europe. EU passport and driving licence essential.

Salary in the region of 45-50,000 Euros depending on previous experience-2-bedroom separate apartment approx. 10 min walk away from the main house, use of a car for work duties and 2 days off per week. Strictly Non-Smokers and sorry no pets.  (HU2257)
