We are seeking a live out Estate/Household Manager with knowledge in the running of a large VIP residence.

As the Principal will not be in residence for more than 3 to 4 months of the year, flexibility when the family is in residence is needed, though normal working hours are 9.30am-5.30pm Monday to Friday.

The estate comprises of a main London residence and 2 or 3 smaller London residences.

  • Setting up manuals, procedures, creating staff working descriptions and appraisals, keeping inventory and stock control records and suchlike. 
  • Excellent staff management, administration, front of house and service skills and the ability to work closely alongside some long-term employees. 
  • Ability to formulate annual operational financial budgets and keep control of actual costs against budget. Will be assisted by the family Office. 
  • All household technical care is supervised by personnel in the Family Office, based in Mayfair. Day to day maintenance will be within the remit of the Estate Manager. 
  • Flair, elegance, and an eye for detail required for this position. 
  • Must have the ability to work alongside and manage 8-10 members of staff, assisting, training, and guiding as required. Previous longevity (ideally 6 years with one employer) working as an Estate Manager is required for this position. 
  • Confident in interfacing with architects, engineers and surveyors in the delivery of high-end projects such as updates and large refurbishments 
  • Be able to identify any issues with MEP infrastructure, troubleshoot where necessary and should the need arise, liaise with relevant contractors to resolve matters in a prompt and timely manner. 
  • Diarise and manage throughput of maintenance contractors to ensure agreement contracts are adhered to and implemented at prescribed times.
  • Occasional formal and informal events may take place within the grounds of the residence, and you should be able to organise, plan and execute these to ensure the smooth running of the function.

This is a very large, refurbished SMART property in one of London’s finest residential areas.  The successful applicant must be resourceful and self-sufficient.  The property is maintained to extremely high standards. 

You will be required to have very good administrative skills as you will be managing budgets, expenses, inventories, etc.  The property has many special finishes and fine furnishings.  Experience with care of artwork, fine finishes and fabrics is a great advantage.  It would be good if successful applicant had a good technical understanding of the property (plant rooms, pools, boiler rooms, Creston, dealing with contractors etc.)  Hands on is extremely important as this is not a job for someone sitting in the office all day.

Long Term Hutchinson’s client is looking for a top-notch household manager and personal assistant. We require and energetic and proactive candidate for this position.

This is for a family with 3 grown-up children. The residence is approx.40 mins from Central Dublin in a beautiful location and there are other homes in South of France and 2 homes in the USA, so essential that you have freedom to travel as required.

You will need to be able to take on the total running of the main residence, (with travel to the overseas homes.) The main residence is however the priority and you will be managing all aspects of the household staff, dealing with rotas, inventory and stock control, undertaking household accounts and ensuring that the travelling Head Housekeeper is well prepared to go ahead of the family, to ensure that each home is prepared in readiness for their arrival. Each property is staffed; however, you will need to have a broad knowledge in all aspects of running HNW homes and undertake a range of personal assistant duties.

  • Responsible for household and project management in multiple locations across continents
  • Recruiting, training and supervision of the household employees, creating operation manuals
  • Research and negotiation with vendors, contractors, maintenance providers.
  • Creating database system for each property and extensive, detailed photographic inventories.
  • Diary, travel management and event planning.
  • Sourcing and setting up of residences for high end rentals.
  • You will undertake local shopping for the households, occasional driving for the general day to day running of the home(s) is essential.  
  • Ensuring the overall smooth running of a busy household on a daily basis, with responsibility for the training and supervision of domestic staff, including full-time Head Housekeeper and Housekeeper.
  • Ensuring food, groceries and medication levels in house are maintained, as per a detailed schedule/ inventory supply.
  • Running personal errands and shopping for the family, as requested.
  • Ordering household items, as required
  • Overseeing weekly flower orders.
  • Coordinating with external suppliers such as dry cleaning/ Linen ironing service, butcher and drinks.
  • Ensuring all aspects of the house are in order; arranging contractors to undertake household maintenance as necessary.
  • Coordinating travel arrangements and preparation for travel to other international properties.
  • Compilation of records, maintenance and updating of household manual and Inventories. 
  • Effectively managing household accounts. Credit card / Petty cash.

This is a relaxed household, but with very high standards and you will be required to ensure the Owner and family have any equipment they require at all times, and that it is ready for use. Ensure all Guests visiting have all of their requirements met. This includes informal Front of House duties, training of junior staff and fulfilling any ad hoc requests from the Owner, Family and Guests or Estate Manager.

TRAVELLING HEAD BUTLER

This is a varied butler role which involves performing duties and travelling with the owners between their three properties (Monaco, France and Sardinia) from April until November, then remaining in Europe during the winter months to run the European properties while in 'winter mode'.

Must hold an EU passport, speak perfect English and be fluent in French. You must be a non-smoker.

The clients are looking for someone who has previous extensive butler/ house manager experience and can hit the ground running. Candidates must be well versed in wines internationally. You should have a hands-on manner, be flexible and willing to adapt to the client’s needs when it comes to preferences on service style.

You must have an excellent front of house manner and be able to read the room. You will be working closely with the Lady of the house therefore personal assistant skills are an added bonus.
You will need to make sure each property runs smoothly as each property is run slightly differently due to location and surroundings. You will find the day to day service and routine is the same throughout.

The clients are a mature couple with two lovely dogs and no children. The dogs are a very much loved part of the family therefore you must be a dog lover and be willing to walk them on occasion.

The clients also employ a chef who will travel with you between properties.
Each property has both permanent managers and seasonal staff who remain at each property.

Accommodation is provided for at each property.
It is important to note that this position is 7 days a week from April to November months while the clients are in residence.
There is always time for a break in the afternoons and dinner is usually at 7pm with few late nights.
