Required for wonderful, important, privately owned residence, with fabulous gardens and extensive grounds, set high up in the mountains with ocean views.

The residence consists of a beautifully renovated main house with 4 guest houses (which are rarely filled). There are about 20 garden staff including Head gardener employed and 2 permanent staff in house, including the butler/housemanager and a housekeeper. (Seasonal staff contracted in as extras as and when needed include a Chef and second housekeeper.)

The position is uniformed & hands-on and while it is a more senior post, assisting the housekeeper in a hands-on manner is required, as well as supervising the seasonal housekeeper & contracted casual staff.

Ability to lay up and serve at table, serve drinks and canapés and also to meet and greet guests is important.

You should have excellent Personal Assistant skills and be computer literate, able to submit accounts at the end of the month in Excel to the accountant.

Ability to organise contractors, vendors, and act as general Household Manager, reporting to the clients when they are not in residence.

You must be a driver, willing to drive the employers’ prestigious cars and their guests occasionally and there is a car available for work related chores.

Clients maintain other foreign homes, so are in residence usually November through April with other occasional trips. Dog lover is essential as the couple have a 7-year-old Standard Poodle. Delightful Anglo/Irish couple with no children.

We are seeking a live out Estate/Household Manager with excellent staff management, administration, front of house and service skills and the ability to work closely alongside some very long-term employees, gaining knowledge in the running of this large VIP residence, setting up manuals, procedures, creating staff working descriptions and appraisals, keeping inventory and stock control records and suchlike.

As the Principal will not be in residence for more than 3 to 4 months of the year, flexibility when the family is in residence is needed, though normal working hours are 9.30am-5.30pm Monday to Friday.

When the Principal is not in residence, you will also be required to oversee the care of 2 or 3 other London residences.

Occasional formal and informal events may take place within the grounds of the residence, and you should be able to organise, plan and execute these to ensure the smooth running of the function.

All household technical care is dealt with by personnel in the Family Office, based in Mayfair.

Flair, elegance, and an eye for detail required for this lovely position which is being newly created.

Must have the ability to work alongside and manage 8-10 members of staff, assisting, training, and guiding as required. Previous longevity (ideally 6 years with one employer) working as an Estate Manager is required for this position.

  • Experience in a large household or hotel with responsibility for maintenance. Able to schedule and track PPM to ensure that no area is neglected.  
  • Able to manage a maintenance team, bringing in specialist contractors when required.

We have a fantastic position for a dedicated and flexible house manager/ butler to work as part of a team taking care of a beautiful country house near Reading.

The ideal candidate will have experience running and taking care of the interior of a private household. This is a combination of both a formal and informal household, a large country house, refurbished SMART property on a very beautiful estate.  The successful applicant must be resourceful and self-sufficient.  The property is maintained to extremely high standards. 

We are looking for a meticulous, hands on, Household Manager/Butler to oversee, manage and work alongside a team of staff.  Exceptional attention for detail with a “can do” attitude along with being highly discreet and professional are essential. 

You will be required to have very good administrative skills as you will be managing budgets, expenses, inventories, etc.  The property has many special finishes and fine furnishings.  Experience with care of artwork, fine finishes and fabrics is a great advantage.  It would be useful if successful applicant had a good technical understanding of the property (plant rooms, pools, boiler rooms, Creston, dealing with contractors etc.)  Hands on is extremely important as this is not a job for someone sitting in the office all day. 

The Estate is fully staffed, and you must have a helpful and positive attitude and work well within a team. The property has 9 bedrooms and 3 guest houses and is situated on 1000 acres of land.

Duties to include but not limited to:

  • House management – liaison with contractors, staff rotas, household expenditure, provisioning and team building.
  • Overseeing and assisting with the care of Art work, antiques, silver, and fine fabrics.
  • Butler service
  • Informal approach but used to formal standards, knowledgeable with food, wine, and service.
  • Family cooking, provisioning for the family ( Chef available for dinner parties)
  • Assisting with walking the dogs

 

This is a part time residence; the working week will be on a rota system to ensure the family’s needs are met.
