Long Term Hutchinson’s client is looking for a top-notch household manager, able to undertake informal table and beverage service and who has excellent front of house skills.  This is for a family with three grown up children. The residence is approx.40 mins from Central Dublin in a beautiful location and there are other homes in South of France, two homes in the USA, (New York and L.A.) so essential that you have freedom to travel occasionally.

You will need to be able to take on the total running of the main residence, (with occasional travel to the overseas homes.)  The main residence is however the priority and you will be managing all aspects of the household staff, dealing with rotas, inventory and stock control, undertaking household accounts and ensuring that the  travelling Head Housekeeper is well prepared to go ahead of the family, to ensure that each home is prepared in readiness for their arrival.  Each property is staffed; however, you will need to have a broad knowledge in all aspects of running HNW homes and undertake a range of personal assistant duties.

Responsible for household and project management in multiple locations across continents

  • Recruiting, training and supervision of the household employees, creating operation manuals
  • Research and negotiation with vendors, contractors, maintenance providers.
  • Creating data base systems for each property and extensive, detailed photographic inventories.
  • Diary, travel management and event planning.
  • Sourcing and setting up of residences for high end rentals.

You will undertake local shopping for the households, occasional driving for the general day to day running of the home(s) is essential.  

Specific Responsibilities:  you must be well organised, self-sufficient and duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Ensuring the overall smooth running of a busy household on a daily basis, with responsibility for the training and supervision of domestic staff, including full-time Head Housekeeper, Housekeeper, Daily Cleaner and a part time Laundress.
  • Ensuring food, groceries and medication levels in house are maintained, as per a detailed schedule/ Inventory supplies.
  • Running personal errands and shopping for the family, as requested.
  • Ordering household items, as required
  • Overseeing weekly flower orders.
  • Coordinating with external suppliers such as dry cleaning/ Linen ironing service, butcher and drinks.
  • Ensuring all aspects of the house are in order; arranging contractors to undertake household maintenance as necessary.
  • Coordinating travel arrangements and preparation for travel to other international properties.
  • Compilation of records, maintenance and updating of household manual and Inventories. 
  • Effectively managing household accounts. Credit card / Petty cash.

This is a relaxed household, but with very high standards and you will be required to ensure the Owner and family have any equipment they require at all times, and that it is ready for use. Ensure all Guests visiting have all of their requirements met. This includes informal Front of House duties, training of junior staff and fulfilling any ad hoc requests from the Owner, Family and Guests or Estate Manager.

House Manager/Head Butler Monaco – Live out

An HNW family with four children is looking for a House Manager for their new Monaco residence fluent in English and French. This experienced House Manager will need to have already setup homes and worked for a family with young children for quite a few years, where he or she implemented a structured management of the household, oversaw and led a varied team and set high standards for all to follow. The role requires someone who is a good leader, structured and versed in planning and organising, pro-active and flexible. Able to organise events for certain special occasions, capable of keeping accounts, managing staff planning as well as inventories, socks and purchasing. Excellent front of house and service skills. Independent, and experienced, solution finder, able to deal with last minute requests. It is essential that the person be multiple steps ahead in the management of the household and coordination of the family’s day to day. You must maintain confidentiality at all times and be able to handle various tasks simultaneously while remaining calm and in control in highly demanding situations. Being the main point of contact for the family with regards to the execution of their day you will coordinate with the Personal Assistant and the team in and out of the house.

  • Provide leadership and good example of the utmost in professional service standards.
  • Ensure operating and administrative standards are in place as well as a code of conduct.

BARNET – HERTFORDSHIRE
RESIDENTIAL  HOUSEKEEPER /ASSISTANT HOUSEMANAGER  for  privately-owned Palladian Mansion, located just outside Barnet and set in 250 acres of parkland.  The house is used both as a private residence and let out for both filming and private corporate events. 

We are looking for an experienced hands-on assistant house manager/housekeeper to join our small friendly team. Reporting to the General Manager, you will be responsible for day to day housekeeping duties and overseeing other members of the household staff. You will ensure the smooth running of the house.

Key responsibilities include:

  • To be responsible for the security of the house and to ensure a member of staff is always on duty in the house.
  • Arrange the house staff rota to ensure there is cover at all times.
  • To keep an accurate record of petty cash expenditure and add to the monthly accounting spreadsheet
  • Ensuring that all areas of the house are clean and free of dust on a daily basis.
  • Liaising with the General Manager/Film Steward to ensure the house is cleaned after any filming or event.
  • Cleaning/care of antique furniture and paintings. Advise General Manager of any items requiring specific attention or repair.
  • Making sure all bedrooms are kept clean and tidy and beds are made.
  • Ensuring all private and communal bathrooms/lavatories are kept clean and that high levels of hygiene are maintained.
  • Working with the Houseman to ensure all refuse and recycling from the house is dealt with appropriately.
  • Making sure that all general medicines/First Aid kits are kept stocked and within their ‘use by’ dates.
  • Checking that all areas of the house are functioning correctly (light bulbs, bathrooms, lift etc) and reporting to the General Manager/Houseman anything which needs rectifying.
  • Checking all cleaning supplies are kept stocked and advising if anything needs to be purchased.
  • Care and basic maintenance of all cleaning and laundry equipment and areas. Report any issues to the General Manager/Houseman
  • Specific cleaning of gym area and equipment.
  • Cleaning of pool house and reporting any issues to the General Manager/Houseman
  • Care and cleaning of silverware/brass using the correct methods as requested.
  • Looking after guests and ensuring they have everything they need.
  • Assisting the with any luggage as required.
  • Laundering of clothes and bed linen.
  • Dealing with any contractors, workmen or visitors as required.
  • Working with other staff members to ensure that security within the house and grounds is maintained.
  • Work weekends and occasional Bank Holidays as required.
  • Light cooking when chef is off
  • Overseeing any temporary housekeeping staff.
  • Service at dinner parties as requested.
  • Service of meals/snacks/refreshments as requested.
  • Working with the House Manager to source any floral arrangements and ensure they are looked after and kept watered.
  • Wear appropriate clothing for various duties.
  • Participate in a weekly staff meeting.     

Hours of Work:

  • From 9am to approx. 5pm, when the owners are not in residence but flexible for longer hours when they are.
  • Generally, the Housekeeper will be required to work 5 days a week, and most weekends. Wednesday and Thursday will be the two days off each week.

 Accommodation:

  • A private flat is provided within the Main House.
  • All services are provided for with the exception of phone calls.
