Chalet Intendant - ALPS
We are seeking an experienced Intendant to take care of the overall running and care of a large, high profile clients’ Chalet. The current employee has been in post for 20 years and will retire after a handing over period with the new Intendant. Normally the family use the chalet for 2-3 months during the ski season and occasional short visits. At this time, a full additional staff are brought in to work alongside the Intendant.
You are a person who is able to operate in and around wealth, with a strict sense of privacy towards the principal and their environment. You manage a private alpine residence and therefore are in charge of its upkeeping, safety and maintenance throughout the seasons. You are a hands-on person who is not afraid of manual work. You are required to manage a strict budget and reduce costs when asked.
You are a person that goes above and beyond providing for the principals.
You are fluent in English and in French or German.
The position reports to the residence manager and to the principal’s overall properties manager.
The position requires a good physical condition as there is a substantial amount of physical work.No accommodation is provided, but lodging will be taken care of when presence is required occasionally in other locations. No car is provided but a driving license is a must. Salary circa 95,000 Euros per annum plus bonus. An EU passport holder is essential.
List of tasks and responsibilities
• Seasonal related upkeep of the exterior grounds.
o Snow clearance in the winter months

• Clearing/cleaning & setting up all terraces when weather allows.
o Making sure the heating system is operational.
• Clear snow from all parking areas on the property
• Make sure all pathways and car access are free of snow and safe
• Ensure all vehicles are clean, tanks filled, and the yearly technical maintenances done
• Handy skills put to practice (fixing, building, repairing…)
• Oversee seasonal refurbishment, building or maintenance projects

Experienced, self-sufficient, flexible domestic couple required for an informal family home in a Rural village location. The family of five includes 3 children 10yrs, 8yrs and 6yrs and the family Labrador dog.
The newly refurbished property has five bedrooms, with numerous reception rooms within the older, listed Manor house, running into an attached new build and detached guest accommodation as well as various outbuildings.
This is a busy, but well organised, happy home. It will be essential that you enjoy working with children and are completely animal friendly. The owners both have full time professional roles so experience in running a family home, and undertaking all day-to-day housekeeping duties, independently, is important. Duties within the house will include detailed cleaning to a high standard, washing, sewing and ironing, food and grocery shopping, care of flowers and plants, running errands (eg dry cleaning, supervising contractors, organising repairs, taking deliveries): generally ensuring a smooth daily running of the home.
Property maintenance (indoors and outdoors), care of the plant room and indoor swimming pool, and liaising with suppliers and contractors are also part of this role. Part of this refurbishment will still be underway during the coming summer, so it will be necessary to liaise with the builders, deal with snagging issues and generally oversee the care of this property as it is being brought up to standard and furnished. There is a small fleet of cars to be managed: washing and valeting them, fuelling, organising services and MOT etc, and there will be some family driving from time to time, including occasional evening driving. If and when time allows any assistance in the grounds, mowing, weeding etc is welcomed.
Although a nanny will be employed there will be occasions that you will be asked to help with and interact with the children, possibly undertake a school run and generally become part of this lovely family. You
During school holidays, the family often travel overseas at which time house sitting, including care of animals, (eg dog & chickens) will become part of the role. You will be a key holder for the property and alarm systems.
The vacancy is primarily Monday to Friday, but you will occasionally be required to work a weekend but with advance notice. You need to be a good team player, be well organised and proactive, with plenty of energy and above all enjoy your role.
You will both need to drive and have your own car due to the location of the property – strictly Non-Smokers and fluent English essential. Reasonable level IT/Tech Skills required.

RESIDENTIAL DOMESTIC COUPLE
The property is a Georgian Manor House in extensive gardens and grounds near Oxford with a successful and growing Wedding and events business alongside being an occasional weekend family home. We seek a domestic couple to look after the house and those using it for Events. Hours: 5 days per week, predominantly 9:00 – 17:30 with one hour off for lunch.
FLEXIBLE WORKING ARRANGEMENTS
This position will only suit a housekeeping couple willing to work a very flexible schedule. Hours are long during the peak wedding season period (typically involving weekend work) and shorter during the off-season period. Overtime hours can be accumulated during the peak season and then used for time off in lieu (TOIL) during the off-season period. This job will therefore be ideally suited to couples who wish to travel or take extended periods off during the winter period.
Housekeeping – The majority of time will be spent with housekeeping duties (cleaning, laundry, bed-changing, looking after house guests). The House has 12 bedrooms and there is also an event marquee in the grounds.
House Maintenance – Experience with light house maintenance (small fixes and painting) would be desirable and the housekeeping couple would be expected to monitor problems and find solutions for day-to-day maintenance issues at the House, including management of tradespeople.
Event Operations – Working closely with the House Manager to organise all Event preparations, including setting up the House and marquee to a specific plan, liaising with wedding suppliers, carrying equipment, moving furniture, post-event damage and stock checks and arranging of event deliveries and collections.
Events – Ardington House has a busy events schedule (typically 40-50 events per year) and is particularly busy during the wedding season which runs from April until October. During this period, weekend and evening work will be required, with days off to be taken on weekdays. Events are run by an event manager, but the housekeeping couple will need work on rota on event days to provide hosting, to coordinate with the catering and event management teams, to assist with arrivals and departures of guests and to secure the House during events (weddings take place in the Marquee and once guests have moved to the Marquee, it is the housekeepers’ responsibility to monitor access to the House, which is provided only to overnight guests).
Other – When the family is in residence, occasional cooking, driving (one driving license is essential), shopping and waitering will be required. There is a full gardening team, but occasional garden, pool and tennis court maintenance work may be required. Ability to assist in the events office to cover holidays of the events team would also be a bonus.
The Housekeeping couple will report to the House Manager. The owners do not live in the House but visit periodically with their families. The House may also be occupied at times throughout the year by holiday rental clients.
ACCOMODATION & SALARY
There is a self-contained, private fully furnished and spacious flat within the House, with all bills and WIFI included. There is an outdoor swimming pool and tennis court, which staff are permitted to use when clients are not in residence. Salary circa £45,000 Gross per annum plus annual bonus, 5 day working week to include weekends. Position start: March 2021. Strictly Non Smokers and excellent level of English required.
