Proactive, country loving domestic couple is required for a recently refurbished, 500-acre country estate in Kent. The 7-bedroom, grade 11 listed property is the permanent home of a down to earth couple and their very friendly dog and 2 cats. 

The Housekeeper will primarily be responsible for the day to day cleaning and deep cleans of the 7-bedroom, 6-bathroom home, laundry, preparing the home for guests, running errands and pet care. Ideally the housekeeper will be able to prepare ingredients, cook occasionally and eventually serve at informal dinner parties.

Partner will be responsible for the day to day grounds maintenance of the property, which will include gardening, mowing, hedge trimming, greenhouse, and vegetable garden. Other duties will include general property maintenance, overseeing contractors, swimming pool, spa and hot tub maintenance, car cleaning and care of the vehicles, ad hoc driving duties and generally assisting the housekeeper and two additional estate workers when required. You will also be responsible for the security of the estate.

This is a long-term role, suitable for a very hand on, self-motivated couple who are used to working together in domestic service – you must be confident in your ability to provide high standards of work without supervision.

Accommodation and Salary

A beautiful, large 3-bedroom Oast house within the Estate, next to the main house. This can either be furnished or unfurnished. All bills included. Monday to Friday 8-4pm with weekends off, some flexibility will be required for driving duties. Salary circa £48,000 Gross per annum.

  • Daily cleaning, hoovering, polishing, sweeping main areas of the house

  • Polishing silver, brass, antiques and fine furniture.
  • Washing and ironing to include bed, table linens and towels, dealing with hand washing, fine fabrics and arranging dry cleaning.
  • Making and changing beds, arranging guest rooms.
  • Feeding and walking the dog if the owner is absent.
  • Watering and care of indoor plants and flowers.
  • Keeping patio, doorsteps and downstairs windows clean and free of dirt.

Gardener-handyperson- all rounder

  • Grounds and garden maintenance including repairs i.e. fencing, weeding, lawn mowing, pruning etc.
  • Keep fireplaces clean and stocked with logs
  • Swimming pool maintenance, clear of leaves and debris.
  • Tennis court maintenance.
  • Light household maintenance (light bulb replacements, minor plumbing, basic painting)
  • Care for the cars, cleaning, polishing fuelling and occasional driving when required.
  • Outdoor furniture care

Accommodation - Self-contained flat with 2 double bedrooms attached to the house with separate entrance.

Salary £50,000 Gross per annum. 4 weeks holidays per annum. 8-5pm Monday to Friday with occasional weekend cover. Presence required on the property during the owner’s absence.

An exciting position for a private family based in Somerset to manage the maintenance and upkeep of a modern 6-bedroom home (main residence) and office complex.  This is a multi-faceted role that will require an all-rounder who can manage the property as well as the health / wellness facilities, manage the vehicle fleet, maintain and manage the upkeep of a smaller domestic property, equestrian facilities, an office and storage all based at the same site.  

In addition to the main residence, you will be required to manage a small office complex including a warehouse and cottage that is leased.  The office has a small team of staff and is located approximately 4 miles from the main residence.   Duties will include the hands-on maintenance and contracts to ensure correct level of operations, weekly and monthly checks of the buildings and land, management of the cleaners, direct mail as required, weekly fire drills to meet compliance, etc.  

The split would be 1-2 days at the offices and 3-4 days at the private residence.

You will be required to manage the maintenance contracts to ensure best cover for the family with minimal intrusion.   You will also be responsible for managing contractors when onsite.  

It is essential that you are hands-on with a strong technical background.  You should have the ability to diagnose and remedy minor faults. 

Additional duties will include

  • Manage the cleaning and servicing of the vehicle fleet including sales and purchases
  • Driving duties in the UK, so you must be a confident driver
  • Hands-on with regards to routine deep cleaning (windows, door runners, gutters, etc.)
  • Utilise and assist the handyman with projects and routine works
  • Conduct weekly and monthly checks of the house systems, buildings and ground
  • Procurement and sourcing for the family in tandem with the PA
  • Running general errands
  • Manage the security of the property, being a key holder for alarm responses
  • Manage the tenanted farmland in conjunction with the land agents
  • Assist the gardener as required

There is a small team of staff in place including a PA, housekeeper, handyman, labourer and gardener, so essential that you work well in a team environment.  This is very much a hands-on role that requires you to have the ability to prioritise and multi-task.   You should have experience working in a smart home and have a good understanding of electrics, heating, swimming pools, saunas, etc.

A formal/informal household looking for an experienced down to earth house manager to take care of their French summer residence and organise the maintenance. The ideal candidate MUST have prior management experience within private residences.  It is desirable to have prior experience working at management level in luxury hospitality/hotels, but also have affinity with technical aspects.

The candidate is expected to be a forward thinker with a proactive attitude, be organised and work to a very high standard. The principals have multiple properties and often travel, so flexibility is key for when they are in residence.

The House Manager is expected to support and report directly to the Family Office and manage the local staff daily, ensuring the running of the property operation and ensuring the delivery of the highest level of service to the principals. You will be expected to be very hands on and lead by example if appropriate to the situation.


  • Fluent spoken and written English skills as well as French.

  • Total discretion and the ability to provide exceptional service without being intrusive. 
  • Flexible with working hours and adaptable to change which might include weekends and bank holidays at short notice.

Duties to include:

  • Take responsibility for all aspects of the running of the houses.
  • Managing the day-today running of the property, delivering the highest standard of service to the principals.
  • Maintenance of the interior and exterior of the property according to the maintenance schedule. When necessary, liaise with third parties.
  • Liaise with the Family Office, the Principals, kitchen and gardening team, as well as security team.
  • Currently extensive renovations are being caried out. Liaising with architect and building team will be necessary during this time.
  • Security of the property, visitor registration off season.
  • To carry out any other duties that may be reasonably requested by the Principal and the Family Office.
  • Manage (season) staff including hiring, training, developing, and disciplinary measures.
  • Ensure that the day-to-day operations are well organised, efficiently run and impeccably maintained.
  • Maintenance of all technical and mechanical systems such as A/C, security, water & wastewater treatment, vehicles & equipment and swimming pool care.
  • Ensure all household equipment including lighting and AV systems are in sound working order – thorough check to be carried out well in advance of family and guests arriving.
  • Schedule and conduct detailed inspections throughout projects & after each trade has completed its project tasks. Dealing with contractors, local vendors.
  • Review and approve invoices before sending to FO for processing. Process follow up if needed. Keep accurate household records and record petty cash expenditure.
  • Local errands and managing the household supplies. Ensure stocks of wine and other beverages are correctly stored.
  • Development of the household manual/ Database management and development (inventories etc).
