HOUSEKEEPER/FAMILY COOK

Essential Requirements: Experience in domestic service. Hands on housekeeper with an eye for detail, capable to supervise and work alongside a small team. Light fresh healthy cooking on the chef’s days off. Longevity in previous similar position. Fluent English, good communication skills and pro active. Child and pet friendly. Clean driving licence essential.

A returning client is looking for an experienced housekeeper/cook for a family of five. You will be looking after a large 5 bedroom country house on a large estate in West Sussex with the assistance of additional staff. The family have three children between 11 and 5yrs who are looked after by two nannies and they are responsible for the main cooking for the children.

Your responsibilities will include all areas of housekeeping.

  • Daily housekeeping duties
  • Making and changing beds, care of bathrooms and re stocking of supplies.
  • Washing and ironing/steaming of all bedding and clothes. (Must be experienced washing delicates and knowing which items should go to the dry cleaners)
  • Wardrobe management
  • Keeping the kitchen clean and keeping cupboards and fridge in order.
  • Running errands and shopping for food and supplies.
  • Cooking from time to time for the principles. Light healthy meals.
  • Dealing with contractors when required

You will be required to work 5 days a week. Flexible to cover weekends when needed. The family travel during the school holidays.
The family are looking for a professional housekeeper, who has experience working in a similar role and can show longevity in previous roles. You must take pride in your work, have an eye for detail and able to take the initiative.
A good team player who is highly organised with solid communication skills is key for this role. You should also be a confident driver and a car is provided.
The family have two cats and a dog – so you must be comfortable around animals.

Salary in the region of £50,000 gross per annum depending on your experience. Accom may be available if required. 2 days off per week, some weekend working will be required.
