A newly created position for a hands-on House Manager/Cook/Butler to oversee a newly renovated property in Eygalières. The Principal is in residence for approximately 4-5 months per year; generally between February-April and September-November. This is a varied role that will require a candidate who can multi-task and prioritize. The renovated property will be finished by January, 2021 and therefore the role will start in the rental property located close by; this will enable the candidate to gain knowledge of how the property is set-up and run; ultimately you will facilitate the move. You will be responsible for managing the property in its entirety. This will include managing the daily housekeeper, managing inventory, caring for silver, various administrative duties, caring for the wine cellar, shopping, sourcing and provisioning and the security of the property. We require a candidate who has a keen interest in food and cooking. Part of this role will also require you to manage a vegetable garden. The Principal enjoys simple food and when in residence you will be required to cook dinner daily with occasional lunches. Dinner is the main meal and is served family style; generally there are 4 courses for dinner; starter, main, cheese, dessert. The Principal also enjoys cooking and will occasionally do the cooking herself. When the Principal is in residence, she does entertain, thus you will be cooking for up to six guests. This is not a formal household; however the standards are extremely high and strong attention to detail is essential. Our Principal is very involved in the house and therefore requires a candidate that will work alongside her. Previous private house experience essential with excellent references. Driver required.
