HANDS ON ESTATE MANAGER & HOUSEKEEPER
Newly created position in a rural village South of Stowmarket. The estate is newly purchased and newly refurbished and requires an experienced domestic couple to maintain and manage the house and grounds to a very high standard. The owners are a mature couple – semi retired with no children. Most of the time only the principals will be in residence, but occasional guests will stay once or twice per month.
They will aim to have dogs in the future so dog friendly couple are essential. A full-time gardener is employed who knows the property well.
The main house is a Grade 2 listed -8-bedroom former rectory, with 2 guest cottages on site, an outdoor pool and tennis court in approx. 50 acres of paddocks, lawns, and formal gardens.
Whilst duties are separate the couple must work well together and have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in similar roles.
The housekeeper will be responsible for the day to day housekeeping of the main house with servicing of the cottages when required. You will manage the laundry, ironing, shoe cleaning, arrange dry cleaning, take deliveries, messages and oversee internal tradesmen. You should enjoy displaying cut flowers, working with the gardener to ensure good use of available flowers. Cooking is not essential to the role but a bonus, however you will need to assist in food preparation, shop for groceries and fresh local produce. Caters will be available for any entertaining, but you will need to oversee this and assist with dinner parties and other events.
Partner will be responsible for the overall security and day to day running of the property. You should have good maintenance skills, be capable to deal with property maintenance, clean and look after the cars, arranging servicing, repairs etc. You will arrange external services i.e. window, pool, tennis court cleaning, maintain a stock of logs, lay fires and fill log baskets, monitor oil and re-order, and manage the domestic finances, place orders, and pay bills. You will need to work with the gardeners and assist with maintaining lawns, flower beds, hedges etc, maintaining garden machinery and arranging repairs and servicing. There will be some occasional driving duties for the principals to and from airport- station pickups, restaurants etc. Familiarity with horses a big plus.
SALARY IN THE REGION OF £50,000 GROSS PER ANNUM DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE.
2 DAYS OFF PER WEEK WITH PLENTY OF WEEKENDS. USE OF ALL FOUND FURNISHED FOUR BEDROOM, NEWLY REFURBISHED FARMHOUSE. WELL BEHAVED DOG WELCOME BUT SORRY NO DEPENDANT CHILDREN AND STRICTLY NON-SMOKERS. BOTH MUST DRIVE. ( HU3309)
