HOUSEKEEPER – MAINTENANCE GARDENER-ESTATE WORKER
Essential Requirements– Pro active domestic couple with previous experience working in a private household. Excellent references required. Team players, fluent English.
Country loving domestic couple is required for a small estate on the Essex/Suffolk borders. A beautiful primary residence of a mature couple who also spend time during the week in London and Winter Overseas. This is a rural location, so ideally one must drive with your own car.
The Housekeeper will primarily be responsible for the day-to-day care of this large country house. You will work closely with the daily cleaner to maintain the interior to a high standard. You must be skilled with laundry duties, which includes all bed linens and towels. Ideally the housekeeper will be able to prepare ingredients, cook occasionally – usually no more than a good Sunday roast. There is a large vegetable garden so always good fresh seasonal vegetables / fruits available.
When the principals are travelling Overseas, the housekeeper is not required to work, but when they are in residence daily hours may be longer and a willingness to work a weekend day appreciated.
Partner will be responsible for the day-to-day ground’s maintenance of the property, which will include maintenance gardening, a lot of mowing, hedge trimming, strimming etc. You will work closely with the outdoor team of 5, reporting to the Estate Manager and Head Gardener.
Other duties may include general maintenance, fence repairs, DIY etc. You should be experienced with large garden equipment, strimmer’s, chain saw, ride on mowers, hedge cutters.
Working hours are 8-5 (Summer months) 8-4 (Winter months) Monday to Friday.
This is a long term role, suitable for a very hands on, self-motivated couple who are used to working in a private family residence.
Accommodation and Salary
A lovely 3-bedroom cottage with own gardens, within the Estate, next to the main house. This can either be furnished or unfurnished. Council Tax will be paid but you will be responsible for all utilities. Well behaved pet considered but must be chicken friendly.
Salary circa £60,000 Gross per annum DOE. 2 Days off per week. (HU3884)
