Wonderful position in a very beautiful but rural part of South West France.
The small six-bedroom chateau is the holiday home of overseas owners. The family of five, which includes 3 adult children, currently use the property an average of 12 weeks during a year, mostly summer months and Christmas. Set in 40 hectares of land, with wonderful cycle rides, shooting and walking for people who enjoy the outdoor lifestyle.
This is a “lifestyle position” living in rural French countryside, but “on duty “ when the owners and their family are in residence. Outside these times generally maintaining and caring for the grounds and gardens, keeping the Chateau clean and aired and ensuring security of the property.
Duties between the couple will be general housekeeping – maintaining a clean interior and dealing with the laundry and shopping when the owners are in residence.
No specific cooking duties are required as the lady of the house loves to cook, but general kitchen assistance and help with occasional dinner parties is expected.
There are 3 acres of formal gardens with large areas of lawns, hedges and roses which must be maintained to a high standard.
You will need to drive the tractor to cut large areas of grassland, chainsaw work, strimming and caring for a potager and orchard. There is a pool and tennis court, the pool has a maintenance contract which will need supervising. Other duties will include caring for garden furniture, maintaining the 2 cars, doing the airport run and managing petty cash and household bills. Liaising with the owners by email and arranging local contractors when needed. DIY skills essential for the day to day routine maintenance of the property.
Lovely 2 bedroom house on the estate, with its own garden area. It is essential that the couple enjoy a rural lifestyle, are self sufficient and self directing and have previous experience working in domestic service. There are no pets on the property but a dog/cat is welcome.

We are seeking an experienced Chauffeur/Fleet Manager, to drive a VIP Principal and care of a fleet of luxury vehicles, together with several smaller cars kept at the residence. The candidate should have high levels of staff management experience looking after a team of 6-7 staff members.
This is a part-residence household, where normal working hours are from 9.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday. However, flexibility is essential when the family are in residence for a few months annually. An ability to deal with the quieter, routine times and then step up to longer hours is essential.
The candidate should have an excellent knowledge of Central London and be able to get the principal, their guests and core team to functions and events in a timely and efficient manner.
This candidate will have previous high level/VIP chauffeuring experience and staff management skills, and superb manner. Lovely long-term vacancy for a country-loving traditional housekeeper/cook to join this fun, high-energy, informal family at their MAIN RESIDENCE currently a country farmhouse, on a large estate near Marlborough. The family are looking to relocate in the very near future closer to the children’s’ day school in rural Gloucestershire.
The family of five includes 3 children between ages 9 and 5yrs and they have 3 small dogs. The family also own 4 ponies that are at a livery yard locally and they ride every weekend. They have a love of the outdoors -walking, riding, tennis, wakeboarding, skiing and are always out and about. Both parents are completely hands-on with the children, but you will occasionally be asked to babysit or supervise in mums’ absence, so essential that you love being around and are confident with school age children.
School runs, caring for the dogs, booking grooming, vet appointments etc. are all part of this very flexible role. This is a position which requires a responsible, well organised, pro-active person to work alongside the lady of the house, who is a busy professional working mother.
Other duties will include day to day house management, ensuring smooth daily running of the household, organising contractors, booking services when needed, ordering oil & logs, keeping on top of food shopping, freezers and larder contents.
A good home cook is required, you will have shared duty of breakfast, lunch and dinners as the family also love to cook. You will generally cook for between 2 and 4 adults and 3 children, but with occasional lunch or supper parties and Sunday lunches when required. They also get in support when needed and have a local chef they work with.
The employers enjoy fresh and locally sourced produce. You need to have a natural flair and love for cooking, enjoy trying new recipes and have a genuine passion for it but you do not need to be a qualified chef.
The garden has a lovely vegetable patch so if you enjoy gardening then a big plus. You will need to provision and use local suppliers, there is a superb butcher and fishmonger locally and farm produce available for fresh ingredients.
This is an informal home and the family are neat and tidy people and very hands-on. The usual day to day housekeeping – cleaning, laundry, and shopping etc. all managed easily for a well-organized person, but additional daily help will be available.
The family will be moving house within I hr drive from current location – closer to the children’s school in Stroud.
Currently there is a small furnished 2-bedroom (1 double/1single) cottage available. The daily working hours are 8.00am to 6.00pm with one hour off for lunch. 2 days off per week.
