A passionate and driven all rounded Skilled Gardener is sought after on a full time and permanent basis for a beautiful grade II* listed private estate on the Essex / Suffolk Border.

The garden was designed 25 years ago by the garden designer George Carter and has been developed into a stunning vista garden with incredible landscape views and expansive lawns. The estate covers about 50 acres including woodland, meadows and a 3-acre formal garden consisting of a rose garden, topiary, yew hedging a walled garden (cutting borders, raised beds, espalier fruit trees lining the walls of the garden, orangery), a large heated glasshouse housing tropical plants. There is also a croquet lawn and swimming pool area. The majority of the garden is kept organic, and the owners are looking to continue to promote organic practices and methods. The garden has occasionally been open to the public in the past to help raise money for charities.

The owners are friendly and have a positive working environment at the estate. The team currently consists of an Estate Manager, Head gardeners, gardener/ handyperson and a driver who occasionally helps with the gardening. The Lady of the house has a very keen interest in the garden and is passionate about plants. She used to be hands-on in the garden but has taken a step back and works closely with the gardeners. They are looking for an enthusiastic skilled gardener to join on a long-term basis to manage and maintain the gardens.

The successful candidate must be a team player, hardworking, able to operate machinery, along with plant knowledge and a friendly manner with a flexible approach to their work. The estate is positioned in a secluded location therefore the candidates must be able to drive and be prepared to have a DBS check with references.

A 3 Bedroom Cottage is provided, salary circa £25,000 (HU3888)
