MAYFAIR, LONDON (PLUS INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL WITH CLIENT)

Essential Requirements: Fluent English with second European language a plus, previous private house experience and ideally yachting experience a plus, drivers license, good technical skills, able to travel frequently, strong background in food and beverage service (sommelier skills preferred). “Can do” attitude, great communication skills, dynamic personality, ability to lead household team but not afraid to muck in!  

A young single client who lives in Monaco full time on his yacht has bought an apartment here in Mayfair and is looking for an individual to manage and maintain it. The experienced butler will be responsible for managing the London residence which spans over 3 floors, with recreational areas and a games room. The successful candidate will have the very highest standards and will provide the highest level of service but in a casual and relaxed manner. The principal enjoys many activities including yoga, fitness, running, cycling and all water sports, keeping an active and healthy lifestyle; the successful candidate will also see keeping fit and healthy as a way of life, not a hobby. The role will suit someone who relishes new experiences, who reads, enjoys the arts and has a desire to learn. 

The principal travels frequently, and you will be required to travel with him at short notice - the butler must be organised and able to assist in travel preparation as required. Accommodation and transport will be provided in these instances. When the principal is not in London, you will be on call for him and also be responsible for maintaining the house to an exceptional standard to ensure it is always ready for him or his guests. 

The house is staffed with a Chef and Housekeeper and you will be working hand in hand with them as well as the Principals London office so exceptional people skills are a must. Must be discreet, flexible, and professional with the highest standards of service. 

It is essential that you have a strong background in food and beverage service.   

Duties include:

  • Front of house food and drink servicesevent organisation 
  • Managing the property as a whole and also managing the housekeepers
  • Chef liaison, menu planning etc.
  • Laying the table when entertaining, must be experienced with silver service
  • Valeting / personal care duties: laying out clothing for the male principal, assisting with dressing, polishing shoes, packing and unpacking for travel
  • Lifestyle/concierge duties, planning, organising activities/venues
  • Additional ad hoc duties as required
  • An interest in water sports is a plus i.e. diving, surfing, etc
  • Someone friendly, approachable, natural, down to earth
  • Yachting experience a plus

Candidates are required to have a clean current driving license and a long-term work record in a similar role with excellent references. Salary £65-75,000 Gross per annum (based on experience). Start Date ASAP. (HU3895)
