Essential Requirements: Previous experience working as a Housekeeper / Senior Housekeeper within a private household; strong wardrobe management and laundry experience, including the care of couture and delicate fabrics; highly organised with exceptional attention to detail; fluent English essential, with French an advantage; valid driving licence; pet friendly; right to work in the UK and eligibility to travel extensively in Europe. 

An experienced Senior Housekeeper / Household Assistant is required for a private household based in Belgravia, London. The role is primarily London-based and live-out, with extensive travel to the family’s residences in Switzerland and Monaco, as well as other destinations from time to time. 

The role and expected standards remain consistent across all residences, and travel is required to ensure the same high level of service is maintained wherever the family is in residence. This is a senior but very hands-on position within a small private household. The successful candidate will combine exceptional housekeeping and wardrobe-management skills with a practical, flexible approach to general household support. 

Wardrobe management is a core part of this position, with responsibility for organising, maintaining and caring for the female Principal’s wardrobe to the highest standard, including couture, luxury clothing and delicate fabrics. General housekeeping duties will be carried out to an equally high standard, with appropriate care and attention given to all household items, furnishings and finishes. 

Duties & Responsibilities: 

·       Wardrobe Management: Take responsibility for the organisation, maintenance and care of the female Principal’s wardrobe to the highest standard, including couture, luxury clothing and delicate fabrics. Create and maintain detailed wardrobe inventories and manage packing and unpacking for travel.

·       Housekeeping: Carry out hands-on housekeeping to an exceptional standard, ensuring the residence is immaculately presented at all times. Care for fine household items, furnishings and finishes, including crystal, silver and china. Oversee temporary housekeeping staff as required.

·       Laundry & Clothing Care: Manage daily laundry and the specialist care of luxury clothing, couture and delicate fabrics. Arrange and coordinate specialist dry cleaning and other external garment-care services where appropriate.

·       Household Organisation: Support the smooth day-to-day running, organisation and presentation of the residence, liaising with suppliers and contractors as required and working closely with the relevant Property Manager / Residential Chief of Staff.

·       Administration: Maintain household and wardrobe inventories, expenses and household records; assist with appointments, online orders and other household administration as required.

·       Driving & Errands: Undertake occasional driving as required, including running errands, personal shopping, collecting household supplies and dropping the Principal at appointments. Monitor and maintain household stocks and supplies.

·       Cooking: Prepare simple, fresh meals for the female Principal as required. This is not a chef position, but the successful candidate should be willing and able to provide straightforward, fresh meal preparation when needed.

·       Service: Lay and serve at table when required, maintaining appropriate standards of presentation and service.

·       Pet Care: Assist with the care of the family’s two small dogs, including walking, arranging veterinary appointments and preparing them for travel when necessary.

·       Travel: Travel with and/or in support of the family to their residences in Switzerland and Monaco, as well as other destinations when required. Maintain the same level of household organisation, presentation and service across all residences. 

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working within a high-standard private household, with particularly strong experience in wardrobe management, housekeeping and laundry, together with the ability to provide practical household and administrative support. 

You will be highly organised, discreet and genuinely hands-on, with exceptional attention to detail and a flexible, “no task is too small” approach. You should be confident caring for luxury clothing, couture and delicate fabrics as well as fine household items and finishes. 

The successful candidate will work closely with and report to the relevant Property Manager / Residential Chief of Staff, depending on location, and will be expected to maintain complete discretion and confidentiality at all times. 

Fluent English, excellent references and a valid driving licence are required. Candidates must have the right to work in the UK and eligibility to travel extensively in Europe. Spoken French would be an advantage. Negotiable salary depending on experience.  (HU4444)
