Hours: 2 shifts: 8-4 & 12-8 with alternate weekend working

Essential Requirements: Previous private household experience is essential. Hands-on, with a keen eye for detail and high standards of cleanliness and presentation. Highly organised, discreet, proactive and able to work well as part of a small team. Flexibility to work a rota covering seven days across the week. Fluent English, good communication skills, and comfortable around cats and dogs. A full, clean UK driving licence with own car is essential.

This is a busy private household on a large countryside estate, with a family in regular residence. The Housekeeper plays a key role in the smooth day-to-day running of the home, working closely with 2 additional Housekeepers and a wider household team and reporting to the House Manager/PA.

General & Daily Duties

  • Always maintain the property to a high standard of cleanliness and presentation

  • Open the house and carry out daily checks, including tidying, hoovering and cleaning of all rooms, bathrooms and kitchen

  • Prepare rooms and beds, ensuring fresh linen and towels are available

  • Manage laundry and ironing for the household

  • Handle deliveries and post, and liaise with contractors attending the property as required

  • Care for the family pets, including feeding and basic upkeep

  • Prepare and serve everyday food and drinks, including coffee, juices and protein shakes, as well as simple, home-style lunches and pre prepared dinner for the principal.

  • Support the nanny when in residence with the children on alternate weekends, assist with housekeeping tasks relating to the children, including making beds and laundry.

  • Keep outbuildings and other areas on the estate clean and checked regularly.

Guest & Event Service

  • Prepare guest rooms in advance of arrivals, including fresh linen, toiletries and finishing touches

  • Welcome guests on arrival and ensure they have everything they need during their stay

  • Assist with the setup, service and clear-down of meals, drinks and dinner parties, working closely with wider team

  • Lay tables and manage table settings for family meals, meetings and events

  • Support with seasonal occasions (e.g. Christmas, Easter) as required by the family

Salary negotiable depending on experience – ASAP Start. Living locally to Pulborough is essential. DBS Check, current driving licence and checkable references essential. (HU4454)
