ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:  Previous long term private house experience, strong attention to detail, excellent communication and organisational skills, ability to provide light meals. Fluent English and basic IT skills essential. Ability for occasional travel a plus. 

A highly experienced, discreet, and hands-on House Manager/Butler & Housekeeper is required for long-standing exceptional Hutchinsons clients in Central London (Mayfair) part residence home. This is a formal household, maintained to impeccable standards, where the role requires both professionalism and adaptability. Current Hutchinson’s butler retires after 22 years.

Duties will include:

  • Oversee the daily running and upkeep of the residence, ensuring it is always maintained to the highest standards.

  • Carry out traditional butler duties, including laying up and serving at formal table, greeting and attending to guests, and providing traditional front-of-house service.

  • Manage house security and take responsibility for the property, which is often unoccupied for long periods. Principals and Family members between them are usually in residence over 8-10 weeks annually at different times.

  • First class housekeeping duties to include cleaning laundry, wardrobe management.

  • Provide light meal preparation, particularly breakfasts and occasional light lunches.

  • Coordinate and liaise with other staff or contractors as required.

Candidates must have previous private house experience, with longevity in similar roles, along with a proven track record of working with discretion, integrity, and loyalty. An impeccable eye for detail and ability to maintain a formal household to exacting standards is essential.

Additionally, we require candidates who can work both independently and collaboratively, with flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances. Full time position, private in-house accommodation with own entrance provided.

Excellent negotiable salary for the right couple.  Ideally 6-day week, but again 5 days negotiable for the right couple. Uniformed position and fluent English essential (HU4323)
