Essential Requirements: Expertise in Greek/Lebanese cuisine, previous Sous Chef or Private Chef experience

 A sous chef is required to manage a small team (including a dedicated pastry chef) in a newly installed private kitchen in a VVIP household based in Bahrain.

Candidates must be able to prepare outstanding Greek/Lebanese food for a delightful family of four, and also to step up to fine dining standards for events and formal entertaining.  Knowledge of other cuisines will be an advantage, and the successful candidate will probably have six to eight years of experience including 2/3 years as a sous chef or working as a private chef in a household with highly discerning clients.  

The daily menu should be nutritious and will usually be served either plated or family style.  

This is a broad ranging position which will encompass all aspects of kitchen operations and management and also working with the purchaser to ensure the kitchen has the best quality products and to source new items.  Additional help will be available when needed, but the sous chef is responsible on a daily basis for managing and leading staff to produce food of exceptional quality. 

The successful candidate will need basic computer skills (Word and Excel) and be disciplined and organised, with good knowledge of nutrition, and best. hygiene practices.

This is an exceptional and unusual opportunity for a person seeking their next step on the journey to a head chef position as they will mainly work autonomously and have the opportunity to develop, whilst being fully supported by the very experienced head chef who is located in a nearby operation. 

Flexibility is required in terms of hours worked, and a six day working week is required, with appropriate 'down time' on a daily basis as well as when the family is absent.  The hours will not be onerous, although there will be times when more hours are needed.  There will also be a possibility of travel with the family to their other properties. 

Salary circa £3000 a month, tax free at source, with accommodation allowance and car, medical insurance and return ticket to country of origin annually.  (HU4358)
