ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS: Previous private house experience, strong technical skills, flexibility and adaptability, strong F&B skills, excellent communication and organizational skills, German speaker would be a bonus. 

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on House Steward to help with the daily operations and provide high‑level service for a large private property in the Munich area. The role combines hands‑on housekeeping with formal table service and evening responsibilities. The House Steward will work alongside a small but solid team consisting of a chef, a housekeeper as well as a personal assistant, all of whom are very trusted and have worked for the family for a long time.

Reporting Structure and Work Relationships

The House Steward is responsible for the smooth, discreet operation of a private residence, ensuring impeccable standards while maintaining a low-visibility presence. This role flexes between quiet household oversight and elevated service delivery depending on principal presence and needs.

The position requires sound judgment, emotional intelligence, and the ability to anticipate needs without intrusion. Privacy, discretion, and adaptability are paramount.

Key Responsibilities

Residence Operations & Oversight

·       Conduct regular house walkthroughs and inspections to ensure the property is always guest ready.

·       Maintain household standards across cleanliness, organisation, presentation, and readiness.

·       Oversee housekeeping quality and schedules; perform hands-on tasks as needed.

·       Coordinate vendors and service providers discreetly, scheduling work to minimize disruption.

·       Manage increased activity with professionalism and discretion.

·       Act as the primary on-the-ground point of contact for household day-to-day needs

·       Ensure smooth coordination and follow-through on tasks and services

·       Monitor household supplies, inventory, and basic maintenance needs. 

 Service & Hospitality

·       Provide refined meal and beverage service during principal stays, entertaining, or special occasions.

·       Prepare dining spaces, set tables, serve and clear with attention to timing and presentation in collaboration with the chef.

·       Support informal daily service when requested (in the late afternoon/evening); avoid unnecessary presence. 

Communication & Reporting

·       Communicate clearly and concisely with principals or designated representatives.

·       Proactively flag issues while offering solutions.

·       Maintain confidentiality at all times. 

Working Hours

·       Fixed base hours + flexible service windows

·       This is a part-time position with a variable daily schedule based on principal presence.

·       Schedules will be communicated in advance whenever possible. Additional hours required for special occasions or entertaining will be discussed and compensated separately.

·       The role is designed to prioritise discretion, efficiency, and sustainability and is not intended to function as an on-call position. 

Qualifications & Experience

Systems & Technology

·       Use and manage digital tools for scheduling, communication, inventory, and reporting

·       Implement practical tech solutions to improve efficiency and transparency

·       Comfortable and knowledgeable with smart-home systems and modern property technology 

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in operations or a similar role within a private household and demonstrate the ability to be highly hands-on in managing a large, complex property. A background in yachting or former yacht crew experience is considered a strong advantage. The role requires a strong operational mindset, exceptional attention to detail, and a high level of technical proficiency.

Candidates should preferably have an existing professional network in the Munich area, although this is not essential. They must be comfortable adopting new systems and be physically capable of assisting with hands-on tasks when required. Discretion, reliability, and a high level of trustworthiness are essential for success in this role.

The ideal individual will work well in a team environment and have a friendly, calm, and approachable demeanour. They should be solution-oriented, adaptable, and maintain high standards while remaining practical in their approach. Must be comfortable with taking responsibility and ownership of tasks and outcomes is also important.

This position is based in a private household environment and requires the candidate to work fully on-site, as hybrid or remote work is not permitted. A long-term commitment is preferred.

Compensation options under consideration include a monthly retainer that counts toward hours worked, a blended hourly rate with a minimum guarantee, or a part-time arrangement with overtime. (HU4388)
