We are looking for a skilled Facilities Manager who can handle the daily operations and upkeep of a large, modern private home near Milan. This role is hands-on and best suited for someone with strong technical expertise, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to manage intricate building systems as well as all practical aspects of estate management.
This position goes beyond the scope of a typical handyman or house manager. The ideal candidate will be a skilled facilities professional with a deep understanding of building infrastructure and the ability to fully manage all operational aspects of the property.
Responsibilities include proactively handling maintenance schedules, coordinating with specialised contractors, and establishing best practices to keep the property in excellent condition. Success in this role requires strong technical expertise, solid problem-solving skills, and exceptional attention to detail.
This property is a super modern smart home, packed with many advanced systems like BMS, HVAC, smart controls, audio-visual tech, access controls, and more. If something stops working, you'll quickly figure out whether it’s a settings issue or a mechanical problem - and if you need to call an outside specialist, you will know who to contact
Duties will include but not limited to
· Oversee the daily management and monitoring of building systems, such as BMS, HVAC, home automation, audio/visual equipment, and access control.
· Troubleshoot and diagnose technical issues across integrated smart home systems, arranging for specialist contractors when necessary.
· Coordinate, schedule, and supervise all contractors and service providers working onsite.
· Conduct and supervise routine maintenance and general upkeep of the property and estate grounds.
· Serve as the primary point of contact for all facilities-related matters, ensuring timely and effective resolutions.
· Keep detailed records of maintenance schedules, warranties, service contracts, and contractor information.
· Handle a wide range of practical tasks to ensure the smooth, day-to-day operation of the property.
· Liaise with other staff members which include, 4 housekeepers, a chef, handyman, gardeners, drivers, nannies and tutors.
· Running errands
· Meet and greet
· Ensure the house is in order and stocked for when the family returns from their travels.
You will be required to have proven experience overseeing contractors and service providers, calm, discreet, professional and skilled at solving problems. Previous experience working in private households. Fluent in Italian and proficient in English with a valid drivers licence.
The working days will be 5 days a week with 10 to 12 hours a day. Accommodation can be a separate flat which is 30 minutes away from the family estate or own bedroom and bathroom in a separate staff house.
