Essential Requirements: Previous Sous Chef experience, knowledge of diverse cuisines, dietary restriction knowledge, flexibility and able to travel, pet and child friendly. 

A Sous Chef is required for a private family based in the Cayman Islands. You will be responsible for the kitchen prep work for the Executive Chef and for providing coverage for the Principals’ meals during periods when the Executive Chef is unavailable. The position is also responsible for the safe and consistent preparation of meals for babies/children, select household staff, and the family pets, within a private ultra-high net worth household. 

Key Duties

·       Assist the Executive Chef with food preparation work for the Principals’ meals

·       Temporary meal preparation coverage for the principals during Executive Chef absences, working with nutritionists, dietary guidelines and the Operations & Lifestyle Manager

·       Prepare nutritious, age-appropriate meals for babies/children, following parental instructions and dietary guidelines

·       Prepare meals for select household staff based on their dietary restrictions, cuisine preference, and budget parameters

·       Prepare veterinarian approved meals for the family pets, maintaining strict separation from human food preparation

·       Stock management and purchasing schedule

·       Maintenance and organization of the refrigerator and pantry

·       Fresh juice/beverages and canapes, upon request

·       Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and allergen control 

Profile & Requirements

·       6 -10 years professional culinary experience

·       Proven experience as a Sous Chef, preferably in a private household, luxury hospitality, or high‑end restaurant environment

·       Strong culinary foundation with the ability to execute and support diverse cuisines (e.g. Western European, ideally Spanish cuisine), dietary preferences, and bespoke menus

·       Demonstrated ability to work closely with an Executive Chef, anticipating needs and supporting seamless daily operations

·       Maintain a high level of discretion, professionalism, and confidentiality at all times

·       Excellent organizational and time‑management skills, with the ability to multitask and perform under pressure

·       Meticulous attention to detail in food preparation, presentation, and kitchen hygiene

·       Positive and friendly demeanour

·       Solid understanding of food safety, hygiene standards, and allergen management, especially dietary restrictions (gluten-free, non-dairy, etc.) 

You should be extremely flexible, including working variable hours, weekends, holidays and be able to travel as required. Strong communication skills with a service-orientated mindset. (HU4389)
